Thoughts on.....Zelda?

We already have a Matilda. What's people's thoughts on Zelda for a little sister?

The first Zelda Game came out in 1986 and the series is still going so it's very likely that it still will be when she's in school, but again that's not a bad thing. It's a nice name and there are worse things to be associated with.

My great grandma was called Zelma so I picture Zelda as an old name.

I like it (and the game) but two names ending -lda seems a bit samey. Zeina is a lovely name.

I like it, associate it with the game, and it's not a bad thing!

My friend has a Zaria, which I think is also a lovely name.

I honestly can’t decide! It’s very… distinctive, and is the kind of name I usually like (strong, unfrilly, slightly vintage and quirky). But I’m not sure whether I find it appealing, probably because I get an ugly, scary vibe from memories of the Terrahawks character! The game reference wouldn’t put me off though.

I think if I met a Zelda irl I’d admire it, so I think on balance it’s a tentative yes from me. 🙂

I would prefer Zerelda, I first heard of it from Enid Blyton's Malory Towers. It sounds nice and also has lots of nickname options as well.

Zora is one of my favourite girls babes ever, though. DH vetoed but it was high on my list for DD.

Zelda Fitzgerald was rather a tortured soul. I quite like the name but I do think of her. Have you read Tender is The Night, OP?

I had a friend called Zelda as a child .She had beautiful long red hair and was somehow different but in a good way .Her name suited her and I have never forgotten her because of it.

It's an ugly-sounding name that's best left in the realms of fantasy with which it is indelibly associated.

I like Zelda, even though Terrahawks used to TERRIFY me I always associate it more with Aunt Zelda from Sabrina and the video game.
