Just wondering.

More like ahn-ya, awn-ya, ann-ya?

do you like it?

Readyforspringtime · 03/02/2023 17:25

The last one. I don't like it.

bellinisurge · 03/02/2023 17:25

The third one.

4thonthe4th · 03/02/2023 17:25

Ann-ya

4thonthe4th · 03/02/2023 17:25

No, I don’t like it.

RedPanda2022 · 03/02/2023 17:25

Ann ya

Nap1983 · 03/02/2023 17:26

An ya. Yeah I think it’s ok

NuffSaidSam · 03/02/2023 17:26

I'd say Ann-ya.

I think Aine is Ahn-ya

Don't like it really. Prefer Anna.

sorrynotathome · 03/02/2023 17:26

If you're American, Ahhhhhhhhhhnyahhh

GroggyLegs · 03/02/2023 17:27

Ann-ya.

It's not a bad name as such, but quite a harsh sound.

ReadtheReviews · 03/02/2023 17:27

Ann ya. Other two are American pronounciations Id say. Just reminds me of that frumpy one in Buffy (dating myself there).

PopGoesTheProsecco · 03/02/2023 17:29

I would pronounce it Ann-ya.

Fairly neutral on the name.

BellatrixLestrangesHeatedCurlers · 03/02/2023 17:33

Ann-ya but "ahn-ya" is popular thanks to Frozen. I like it.

abyssofwoah · 03/02/2023 17:33

Ann-ya
If I heard the pronunciation Awn-ya I would assume the name was Aine not Anya, unless the person saying it was American

ba29057 · 03/02/2023 17:34

The third one, I knew one person called Anya.

Twoshoesnewshoes · 03/02/2023 17:35

Ann yuh
yes it’s nice enough

Chewbecca · 03/02/2023 17:35

The third. Reminds me of potatoes but I don’t think that is likely to be an especially common view.

AberLondoner · 03/02/2023 17:36

Ann ya

Pemba · 03/02/2023 17:40

Isn't it 'Ahn-ya'? Although other people often say it just 'An-ya'. I feel that's not correct and they are simply adding a 'y' into the middle of Anna, as that's what they know. I could be wrong however.

Yes it's quite nice, but I prefer Anna TBH.

MrsAvocet · 03/02/2023 17:42

There's an Anya in our extended family and she pronounces in Ann-ya.

ChilliHeelerFanClub · 03/02/2023 17:45

Third one. I think it’s ugly but I’m not sure why.

hedwigismyowl · 03/02/2023 17:46

Ann-ya. I hate it cos the Anya I knew was a horrible person, so rude and abrupt.

Paturday · 03/02/2023 17:46

An as in the word an

Ya as in ‘hiya’

MajorCarolDanvers · 03/02/2023 17:47

Ann-ya

Nice enough.

PandaG · 03/02/2023 17:48

Ann-ya. Have elderly relative called Anya and this is how she pronounces it.

WestendVBroadway · 03/02/2023 17:49

I have always thought Ann-ya, DD has a friend who pronounces it that way. I know someone who just called their newborn Arhn-ya, but they are from USA.
