Sadly, I do. It's his middle name - his first name is Sky.

oliviaelanasmum · 07/02/2008 12:12

I know a man with the name blue.

hifi · 07/02/2008 12:12

PavlovtheCat · 07/02/2008 12:14

yes, I know a boy, about 7 called Blue, his family are hippies, live in a yurt. it really really really suits him. Dont think everyone can pull it off though.

SheherazadetheGoat · 07/02/2008 12:15

i think 'bleu' could be really classy

onebatmother · 07/02/2008 12:16

pron. bleurgh, goatie?

SheherazadetheGoat · 07/02/2008 12:16

pavlovthecat - that boy is doomed to always live in a yurt and any life choice he might have made have been taken away by his yurt dependent name.

krabbiepatty · 07/02/2008 12:17

Ahem, it is my nephew's middle name - it derives from someone else's last name and is a perfectly good middle name.

onebatmother · 07/02/2008 12:18

Mr Blue Smith QC. nope.

krabbiepatty · 07/02/2008 12:18

It need not be yurt-y combined with a non-yurt-tastic first name.

PavlovtheCat · 07/02/2008 12:19

I think you might be right there Shehezerade - although both parents do work, bloody hard as well I might add. They have a girl called Aurora.

Nowt wrong with living in Yurt, some are very ornate, and some are bigger than my poxy apartment!

Blu · 07/02/2008 12:20

Well - I feel I should have a specifc perspective here....and I would NOT call a child Blue.

Wasn't there a character - male, and a cowboy to boot - in one of those series from the 1970s, High Chaparell or Rawhide or something, called Blue?

I knew a rather lovely golden retriever type dog called Blue.

krabbiepatty · 07/02/2008 12:22

Yes but Blu, as a middle name? Surely one can go off-piste a little with middle names (speaking as someone who in a moment of pregnant insanity pondered "shark")?

krabbiepatty · 07/02/2008 12:22

oh look at those failed italics...damn

catgirl · 07/02/2008 12:24

boy, nearly 3, middle name, suits him!

UnquietDad · 07/02/2008 12:25

Dakota Blue Richards from "The Golden Compass", and Janice Long's daughter.

Odd name if you ask me.

Are other colours eligible? Green? Yellow? Puce? Vermilion?

"Oy, Vermilion, getta move on, yer late fer school."

"Puce, stop it or I'll lamp yer."

krabbiepatty · 07/02/2008 12:27

Scarlet
Violet
Indigo
Magenta
loads of colour names around...
Not that great though on reflection...

SheherazadetheGoat · 07/02/2008 12:29
