Julie is a popular and traditional Scandinavian name. It’s within the top 40 for babies born last year.

sandranista · 02/02/2023 20:43

Yes I think Julie is nice. It's been long enough for it to have a resurgence

Resurgence? I hope not, it is such a wet name.

pilates · 03/02/2023 08:41

It’s awful, sorry. It wasn’t great 50 years ago.

Consufed · 03/02/2023 09:00

I really like Julie and think it would be refreshing to hear as a baby name.

SmugglersHaunt · 03/02/2023 09:38

Julie is a lovely name. Sounds like music

DurdleSnore · 03/02/2023 10:19

Not keen I’m afraid. Juliet however is lovely.

schnubbins · 03/02/2023 10:22

My niece aged 18 is called Julie .It's a lovely name .

Slimjimtobe · 03/02/2023 10:22

I really love it

incitethismeetingtorebellion · 03/02/2023 10:27

This is the first time I've seen my name on one of these threads and it's lovely to see how many people think it's shit 😂
Nobody calls me Julie. Most people call me a shortened version of my surname. But that bloody Ali G soon is still the bane of my life.

mrsbrownhat · 03/02/2023 11:24

My school bully was Julie. So a no from me!

roseheartfly · 03/02/2023 11:31

I put Julie in the same bracket as Karen...

RuthW · 03/02/2023 12:16

Aisling.

Julie is awful and I like retro names.

Julia or Juliet are lovely.

thesonicoscillator · 03/02/2023 16:53

I quite like Julie the more I say it, defo due a revival. Love Juliette and the Italian Giulia which is pronounced exactly as we Julia. Really like Sarah actually too.

Exactly, take silly age prejudice out of the equation (and Ali G who is old hat and not relevent) it's a pretty name..Jules is a potential nickname for Juliette Julianna Julia or Julie, the person with the name decides what they answer to

Teeshirt · 03/02/2023 17:49

Strangely, I’ve just been watching the famous play Miss Julie. It’s 19th century and the title character is an aristocrat. It has posh but unconventional vibes there.

Julie makes me think of Juul like the vape
Aisling is nice

My Mum called my sister Julie, because she didn't want it shortened-so all her school friends called her "Ju"!

LadyEloise1 · 03/02/2023 17:59

I prefer Julie go Julia.
It would be my choice out of Julie, Sarab or Aisling

MrsDanversGlidesAgain · 03/02/2023 18:02

Well I'm biased because my mother was a Julie and I like it (actually she was a Julia but everyone called her Julie. Or Jules).

Metabigot · 03/02/2023 18:02

I like Julie and knew a couple at School in the mid 80s.

It's due a comeback!

Bugeyedowl · 03/02/2023 18:04

Very dated and downbeat, like a debbie downer sort of name. A miserable office worker eating a soggy sandwich at lunch time sort of name.

Sawmiller · 03/02/2023 18:05

I had good friends at primary and secondary school called Julie (I was born in the 60s).

It’s a nice name well overdue a comeback!

4thonthe4th · 03/02/2023 18:07

Julie, 56, works in the library.

Aisling is the best of the 3.

lljkk · 03/02/2023 18:08

How does one pronounce Aisling, coz I immedately thought "Ass - ling"

FlutterbButterfly · 03/02/2023 18:09

Juliet is much nicer!

Ash-Lin or Ash-Leen. I know women who use both.
