I'm having a girl and i am starting ti love the name Aleeah, my friend says it sounds "Chavvy" (i hate that word) but me and my Dh love it.

What's everyone's thoughts?

It's not my thing at all, but what's important is that you and your DH love it.

Btw, your friend was very rude.

Mañanarama · 02/12/2022 18:20

The spelling isn’t great and I can think of 3 or 4 ways to say it out loud. How are you wanting it to be pronounced?

GrimDamnFanjo · 02/12/2022 18:21

It's Aaliyah surely?

DemBonesDemBones · 02/12/2022 18:22

I prefer it with one e. It's really pretty.

BeanieTeen · 02/12/2022 18:25

It’s not ‘chavvy’ - it’s Arabic isn’t it? Although I think many won’t recognise the spelling - looks like you’re trying to spell ‘Aaliyah’ in a ‘yooneek’ way, so people may well think it’s a bit naff for that reason.

minipie · 02/12/2022 18:26

Aaliyah is the spelling I’m familiar with and is a beautiful name.

Chitasaurus · 02/12/2022 19:04

I like the way the name sounds, but not how it's spelt. So many vowels! My niece is called Alia - an Indonesian name - which I really like.

caroleanboneparte · 02/12/2022 19:09

Not that spelling

Rebeljustforkicks · 02/12/2022 19:10

It's a nice name but that's a horrible way of spelling it

SpinningFloppa · 02/12/2022 19:11

It’s nice but not spelt like that

ReallyDarling · 02/12/2022 19:11

Its nice and I really like Allia/Alia spellings.

Simonjt · 02/12/2022 19:13

Aleeah is a really nice arabic name, it means high (as in status) or god like.

Luredbyapomegranate · 02/12/2022 19:14

GrimDamnFanjo · 02/12/2022 18:21

It's Aaliyah surely?

Yes - spell it properly and it’s grand

Or Alana / Alannah is similar

fannyfartlet · 02/12/2022 19:15

Add a couple more E's Aleeeeah.

Butterbeer4All · 02/12/2022 19:15

I like the name but not the way that you're spelling it

Tomatoblush · 02/12/2022 19:22

Nice name but terrible spelling. It seems chavvy because you are trying too hard to be different with the spelling.

LaLuz7 · 02/12/2022 19:24

Good name, silly spelling.

Go with Aaliyah

Sadbeigechildren · 02/12/2022 19:25

It sounds lovely but not with that spelling and it's really popular.

Yes, it's a beautiful name.

BruceWaynettaSlob · 02/12/2022 19:33

There's an Aleeah on Teen Mom TV show.

MerryMarigold · 02/12/2022 19:35

I think I'd pronounce it Uh-LEE-uh (stress on second syllable) rather than A-lee-uh (stress on first syllable) which is usually spelled Aaliyah or Aliya.

I don't particularly like the Uh-LEE-uh pronunciation though.

How were you thinking to say the name?

Kanaloa · 02/12/2022 19:38

I love the name Aaliyah, it’s beautiful. I wouldn’t spell it any other way, I think most people will recognise it and spell it Aaliyah. It’s a pretty name.

johsq20 · 02/12/2022 19:40

Nice but not spelled like that

KindergartenKop · 02/12/2022 20:11

Is it pronounced aar-leah or uh-lear?

FlamingJingleBells · 02/12/2022 20:13

Arabic: عَلِيَّة‎ ), Aaliyah, Alia, or Aliyah is an Arabic feminine given name. It is the feminine of the name Ali, meaning "exalted".
