I have a few in mind, finding it difficult to agree with my other half! Here we go...

Georgie - not georgia or georgina etc
Harlow
Paisley
Brodie
Indie
Willow
Tierney
Seren

Also, if you have any suggestions of names I might like, based on this list, please share.

I am not keen on old fashioned names (Elizabeth, Penelope etc)

Thank you in advance

Seren is really nice, Willow is ok. The others aren't.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/10/2022 00:48

(Georgie is ok as a nickname)

firsttimelondonmummy · 22/10/2022 00:49

Georgie and Seren are nice! 😊

Manifestingbaby · 22/10/2022 00:49

I like Willow and Seren. I dislike Georgie and Tierney sorry. The others aren't hugely to my taste but don't dislike them either. Interesting list.

MrsJamieDornan · 22/10/2022 00:50

Yes to Georgie and seren. No to the others.

Yep

And Georgie if it’s a nn.

None of the rest

FootballisLife · 22/10/2022 00:53

I find it really interesting that so many people on MN seem to really like the name Seren (as do I) and yet I do not know a single person who has named their child this. I work in a school as well!

I like Paisley. It's not uncommon in my area of 'not the UK' (Canada), there are 4 in my 450 student elementary school. Willow is also fairly common - 2 in my school.

Brodie is a boys name here (not that that really means much these days).

May favourites from your list would be Paisley and Seren (never heard it before but I like it).

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 22/10/2022 01:02

Paisley & Georgie for me .

BeaLola · 22/10/2022 01:07

Seren for me

What about Nina - simple, easy to spell , different in a good way

MarmiteCoriander · 22/10/2022 01:09

My initial thoughts, and these are just my own, personal thoughts. You and OH will work it out:

3- Georgie - porgie the nursery rhyme. As a legal first name, not keen.
5- Harlow- no- have you never heard of the town in Essex?
6- Paisley- as above but in Scotland?
4- Brodie- surfer dude/bro- not for a girl/woman
2-Indie- like, but more as a nickname if they must have one.
1- Willow- favourite from your list
7- Tierney- I only know it as a surname and could be pronounced a number of ways and spelt various ways.
8- Seren- I initial read it as sarin which a deadly nerve poison- no. I'm unsure how you are pronouncing it, but too similar if I've read it right.

I personally prefer something less common too, which I think you are trying for. Here are some other ideas:

Izelle/Izella
Azalea
Magnolia
Skye/Skylar/Skyler
Coral/Coralie
Fairuza
Teal
Verda

Love Willow.

Maybe the popularity surge is coming; a baby twin on The Archers is called Seren. Which is the only reason I have heard of the name & it’s grown on me.

Willow = Willow Rosenberg from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Great association but I couldn’t call a baby that.

I hate all the other names. I feel strangely bad saying that … you did ask.

oh Seren’s twin is called Nova if that helps!

Sorry but I don’t like any of them

DramaAlpaca · 22/10/2022 01:20

We don't have the same taste.

I don't mind Seren but the rest aren't my style at all.

sjpkgp1 · 22/10/2022 01:21

I've got a Willow, great name. I've got a Violet too. I like Georgie and Paisley also. x

Ah yeah didn’t clock that — annoying yes as Its a good name!
Seren is a Welsh name so maybe that’s a source of investigation.

both names mean star which I think is cute if a bit twee

It's OK to not like any of the names I am keen on. There are people who put lists on here every day and I'm not keen on them either, there is no right and wrong, just individual taste.

I suppose I'm kind of appealing to the people who have similar taste to myself to try and think of some new names for me, or to choose a favourite.

I appreciate all the replies so far, thank you.

Joining the Seren love!!

I also like Indigo, Sage, Kendra and Cassia if any of those appeal

Titsflyingsouth · 22/10/2022 09:00

Willow and Seren are both lovely.

Really loathe Paisley and Tierney.

FennelAndOnions · 22/10/2022 09:06

Love Seren, but it’s pronounced Seh ren rather than Serun if that make sense, it’s a Welsh name.

Willow is popular and a bit everywhere.

I like Seren and Indie from the list.

ErrolTheDragon · 22/10/2022 09:28

Gosh, that makes me realise I've not listened to The Archers for months - whose is that? Archers
