I have a few in mind, finding it difficult to agree with my other half! Here we go...

Georgie - not georgia or georgina etc
Harlow
Paisley
Brodie
Indie
Willow
Tierney
Seren

Also, if you have any suggestions of names I might like, based on this list, please share.

I am not keen on old fashioned names (Elizabeth, Penelope etc)

Thank you in advance

For me the problem is associations:

Georgie - "Hi Georgie, come down this drain! I have treats for you'
Harlow - harlett
Paisley - very bad area of Glasgow
Brodie - Jenner
Indie - Willoughby or just daughter of Katy Hopkins or her ilk
Willow - Smith but also tree and the one from Buffy
Tierney - this is a surname and sounds like tyranny
Seren - beautiful Welsh name

Other beautfiful Welsh names

Carys

cw84 · 22/10/2022 10:49

Seren is a welsh name and means Star. I know a few Serens where i live in Wales

SallyWD · 22/10/2022 11:05

I only like Seren from that list.

mowly77 · 22/10/2022 11:19

Tom and Natasha’s @ErrolTheDragon ! There was an excruciating storyline with her interfering mother staying & there’s a church window/Peggy issue that’s still rumbling on …

sopeas · 22/10/2022 12:50

Georgie - I don’t like it because of the Georgie Porgie connotations and I also see this more as a nn for the Georgia/Georgina/ Georgiana names

Harlow - very grim Essex commuter town apparently - how about Marlowe?

Paisley - again is a place name so not crazily keen.

Brodie - don’t really have much to say about this - it’s ok but I have only ever known boy Brodie’s - how about Brontë or Blake?

Indie - I do love Indie though maybe best to go for Indira or Indigo and nn to Indie? I think Indira is so beautiful.

Willow - used to really love this but seems to be quite popular now but if that doesn’t bother you then it’s a really lovely choice.

Tierney - not keen.

Seren - Jumping on the mumsnet bandwagon, I love this name! It’s really beautiful.

Some suggestions based on your list:

Wren
Xanthe
Iris
Quinn
Calla
Anaïs
Sage
Serena
Raven
Juniper
Dahlia
Brynn
Marigold

User6761 · 22/10/2022 19:21

Georgie - nice as a nickname but I'm not keen as a full name.
Harlow - dislike, very American to me.
Paisley - town near Glasgow, don't see it as a name.
Brodie - definitely a boys name in Scotland.
Indie - ok, but has a definite trendy/hippy vibe.
Willow - ok but I think this name may date if that's a concern to you.
Tierney - dislike, sounds like a surname.
Seren - really like. The best of your list by far.

I find it really interesting that so many people on MN seem to really like the name Seren (as do I) and yet I do not know a single person who has named their child this. I work in a school as well!

I know a few Seren's but I live in Wales and it's a welsh name for Star. Even here it's not overly used though.

It's a beautiful name x

NC12345665 · 22/10/2022 19:28

You've clearly never been to Harlow or Paisley...

Willow, Indie and Seren are nice.

sageandbasil · 22/10/2022 19:29

Georgie - not georgia or georgina etc Love Georgie

Harlow - not a fan
Paisley- super cute
Brodie- boys name
Indie- love, getting v popular
Willow- seems abit dated to me but still a nice name
Tierney- worst one sorry
Seren - I love Seren. Are you Welsh? Ffion is a pretty Welsh name

FayCarew · 22/10/2022 19:32

Georgie - ok
Harlow - have you been there?
Paisley - have you been there?
Brodie - surname, Pride of Miss Jean
Indie - newspaper
Willow - ok, not my taste
Tierney - surname
Seren - naff and harsh-sounding

Georgie's my favourite but I'd use Georgia on bc. Not keen on the others

ScruffMuffin · 22/10/2022 19:32

From your list, I love Indie. Seren and Willow are also lovely.

Indra
Tiana
Elodie
Xanthe
Violet
Aiyana
Anya
Hester

SatinHeart · 22/10/2022 19:52

Paisley or Georgie. My worry with Georgie though is that you/she would be forever correcting people calling her Georgia.

To me Brodie is a boy's name.

Indie is ok but massively overdone at the moment (I know of at least 4 under the age of 5)

mewkins · 22/10/2022 20:00

Seren or Brodie are quite nice. Paisley I really dislike (combination of a bad pattern or a place/airport). Same with Harlow- have you been there??

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 22/10/2022 20:03

I love Willow, I like Seren and Georgie and hate Paisley!! But then again, I have a family connection to the town so am a little swayed with that!

mathanxiety · 22/10/2022 20:04

I like Tierney, Willow, and Seren.

The rest, no.

caitlinrose · 22/10/2022 20:04

Georgie - no, too cutesy and there are so many Georgias and Georginas and Georges around already.
Harlow - a bit too trendy for me.
Paisley - very American and trendy. Will date quickly.
Brodie - this is a boys name to me, as Brody.
Indie - indie-films, indie-music. It's not really a name to me.
Willow - this is fine but very popular.
Tierney - I find this unattractive-sounding.
Seren - this is cute.

Definitely Seren.

Georgie reminds me of Georgie porgie as said above, Harlow is a run down town in Essex, Paisley is a deprived city in the west of Scotland, Brodie is alright but I see it as male,
Indie is alright
Willow is alright
Tierney isn't nice
Seren reminds me of the nerve gas.

What about Astrid, Marlowe, Ada, Rowan, Willa,

I know two Harlows and it's grown on me. That's my favourite of your list.

Thisisnotmyname2 · 22/10/2022 21:52

I think of Georgie as a nickname rather than a name in itself. Not keen on Harlow or Tierney. Sorry, the rest are ok.

Names you might like- Jodie, Bridie, Hallie. I also know a Paisley with sister Teagan.

how about

Robyn
Wren
Alba
Hero
Rowan
Aurora
Thea
Ava
Tia

Fraaahnces · 22/10/2022 22:36

Seren is my favourite from your list. Also love Willow. I’m sorry but I don’t love Paisley or Brodie. They sound like Frat boys to me. Georgie is okay, but meh. If you want to be trampled to death, you just yell “Indie/Indy” around here and pre-teen and teenaged girls will pour like a plague of locusts from almost every home.

You asked for a rating so...
out of ten:
Georgie - 3
Harlow - 8 (very pretty and not super common!)
Paisley - 6
Brodie - 5 (I'm so sorry but this does make me think of a lovely little dog rather than a child!)
Indie - 7 (quite cute!)
Willow - 4 (just not sure about this one.)
Tierney - 3 (depending how it's pronounced I suppose it may be higher?!)
Seren- 6
