Down to 3 to rate - Irene, Madeleine & Rose

Exactly as the title says - we found out we’re expecting a girl! I previously made a post on name ideas and got good advice and we have put it down to 3 now. Our 3 options now are Madeleine, Irene and Rose. DH thinks Madeleine first, Irene second and Rose third.

I’m with your DH. But they are all lovely names.

Madeleine, hands down.

Madeleine 1st, Rose 2nd. Don't like Irene.

Not keen on Irene as a first name but it would work as a middle name.

or

How would you pronounce Irene? Two syllables- no. Three syllables- yes yes yes!

1st Madeleine, 2nd Rose. Personally don't like Irene at all. I would pronounce it as EYE-REEN.

How long is your surname, because Rose is 1 syllable, Irene 2 and Madeleine 3.

Depending how they flow together, I agree with either Madeleine Rose Surname, or Rose Madeleine Surname.

Madeleine . Rose is ok as a middle name but is a bit lacking as a first name and Irene is in the same sort of dowdy / drudgy category as Deirdre to my ears .

Not Irene, one it sounds like an old woman, second she’d be bullied at school, imagine hearing jokes about “come on Irene”!

The question I would ask myself is whether or not I wanted a Maddie because 99% of Madeleines are called Maddie later on. Even if you prevent it during her younger years at school she will go by what she likes and one of her friends will bring Maddie up for sure.

I personally like Madeline and decided to take it off my list because I didn't like Maddie.

I like Madeleine and Rose. Irene is not my style.

But if you don't like Maddie I would go with Rose Madeleine Irene which is pretty too!

I wouldn't worry about flow but more about which name you want to call her every single day.

Madeleine is the best name.

Rose. It's my DD's middle name after my nan. It would have suited her as a first name as well. Madeleine after that
