What do you think of the name Linda ?

I know of a baby Linda. Was surprised at first just because I hadn't heard the name in so long but it really fits. It doesn't sound strange amongst the other babies names and is different but not at all out there and crazy which is nice.
I actually like it a lot more than I thought I would, when it's attached to a real living baby anyway, rather than just the idea of a baby being named Linda.

This historical data from England and Wales is why most people will think it's dated, even if you don't. It appears for the first time in top hundred in 1944, peaked in 1954 and by 1974 it had dropped to 76th, and has been firmly out of the top hundred since then. Such a boom of popularity in a relatively short time means that when someone hears the name Linda, they have a (probably accurate) expectation that Linda was born around the 1950's.

@DFOD , that's how fashions work. I like quite a few of the names but they're 'mum names' to me. I don't like many of the names that are currently popular. They seem to be samey with lots of vowels and the predominant consonants are L and V for girls, or Th and R for boys.

What about Lindsey? Lots of different spellings too. My personal favourite is Lynsey

It's a bit 80s for me personally. Belinda is nicer imo.

I really don't like Linda or Belinda they're very very dated and not due a comeback. It just sounds quite harsh to me

It just makes me think of that episode of Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt, where there is a baby called Linda and everyone is horrified because its a awful name for a baby.
"He named his baby LINDA! Thats not a baby name, thats a name for an adult woman who works in human resources and says things like uuhh Mondays"
He even called a group of adult Lindas together and they all thought it was weird on a baby.

YES! And how none of the adult Lindas (from
HR) were ever baby Lindas, and they all had stories like ‘I changed my name to Linda to get more jobs in HR’.

You can’t even consider the name until you’ve watched this OP!

We have a lovely friend in her 30s called Linda, so i think it's great. But I'm not sure if the world is ready for it to come back yet ;)

It's an old name but not a cute old name so just no! Definitely a woman 50+ not a baby.

I like it! My godmother is called Linda and she was born in the 1940s.

Well I grew up partly in Portugal where it means beautiful, so good connotations for me! I'm not sure I've ever met a real life Linda - it's not really to my personal taste but I think it's an elegant pretty name.

It’s actually lovely, but I think it’s 10-20 years off being ‘fresh’ rather than granny. Sylvia is another one of that era that’ll be ready for a revival in a decade I think.

I like it. No way is it a ‘60s, ‘70s or ‘80s name. It’s ‘50s and maybe ‘40s. I was born in the ‘60s. No Lindas of my age at my huge school. But a couple of my teachers were called Linda.

It's probably due a revival, I know a lot of older Lindas who are lovely people and think it sounds different to all the Molly, Gracie, Evie, Poppy drippy names.

I suppose if you have never met a middle aged Linda you might view the name through rose coloured glasses.
Unfortunately the ones I have met have given me bad vibes on the name.
That's not to see there are not some lovely Lindas out there. I've just never had the pleasure of meeting one!
