Hi, I am due soon and have chosen the name of my baby. She is going to be called Lilith. My parents have basically said if I call her that, then there is no way she can be baptised as it is demonic. I know the origins of the name, but don't see why it is an issue. Her other name will be Rebekkah....so compromise. Am I actually making a mistake ?

Isn't that going to be the case for most babies and children at threat point? Some of the names people are using now are unusual so I don't know if they'll look twice at Lilith but OP decided on Rebecca (forgot how she spells it) anyway

names.

OP is going with Rebekkah, which will probably misspelled a lot

Here's some names I know children have been called in the last two years
Lucifer
Echo-Love
Qullian
Storm
Axle
Kind
Ember

And although they maybe aren't WTF names (except lucifer) they may raise a few eyebrows

I mean obviously you know some extremely unusual parents. For what it’s worth I would seriously discourage anyone from choosing names like Lucifer or Echo-Love as well. I think they’re a desperate attempt at edginess that just gives your child a lifetime of silly comments and explanations.

I'd think 'WTF were the parents thinking?' about all of those, apart from Axle.
I would think that Axel's parents either couldn't spell or the registrar made a typo.

Axel is fine but Axle makes me think of axle grease

Yes, he's my cousin and I did point out they spelt it incorrectly but apparently they did it on purpose which I guess it's their child but a bit odd.

I also forgot about Forrest.

What I was trying to say is baby names these days are more out there so I'm not sure Lilith would be questioned like it would now.

I caught this thread by coincidence but wanted to say my daughters name is Lilith and we never have any bad comments and she is far from demonic .
To the religions fanatics here ( there seem to be many ) Lilith was Adam first wife who basically told him she refused to be beneath him . I call that the first ever feminist ! Lilith rocks

You forget every woman who stands up for herself in religion is called a demon a whore or worse . She is demonised because she stands up to men and that is never ok in any religion . That is off course of anyone is silly enough to believe any of it .
