I love Maci but my husband loves Jayda and Piper. Thoughts?

Do the calling the name out in the supermarket test. Where I live it would be:
Mehseeeeeh or Mace
Pipooooooh
Jaydooooooh

Strokethefurrywall · 21/06/2022 18:26

Piper is my favorite and was on my girls list (had 2 boys).

I know a little Macy, she's very cute.

I wouldn't bother with the "chav" test. As if anyone of sound mind would worry about what the names sound like in the local supermarket.

I mean if you were of a decent class, you'll not be doing your own grocery shopping anyway! 😉

Standards? What does that mean? Hating ‘chavy’ poor people. That’s all you get on these name threads.

MerryMarigold · 21/06/2022 18:33

I read 'Maci' as 'Macky'. They're all fine but I like Piper best.

ChagSameachDoreen · 21/06/2022 18:37

Awful, awful, and awful.

SailingNotSurfing · 21/06/2022 18:37

Piper is my favourite.

Some horrible snobbery on this thread.

ChagSameachDoreen · 21/06/2022 18:37

Awful, awful, and awful.

I wish there was a like button as on Facebook . . . because I agree, awful.

Gnusmas · 21/06/2022 18:52

Sorry they sound really common, like love Island contestant names.

Netmums isn’t full of middle class snobs op

This! 👏🏼

MargosKaftan · 21/06/2022 19:51

I know 2 Pipers, one is a dog and one is a 12 year old, but she is constantly correcting people who have thought her name was Pippa. (The human Piper, the dog Piper doesn't have this issue.)

I really like the name Piper and am not keen on the other 2. But it does make me think of a dog, sorry!

urbanbuddha · 21/06/2022 20:08

Piper. I also like Liberty - by the time she's walking no-one'll remember last year's Love Island.

SausageRoll2020 · 21/06/2022 20:24

At first I thought this was a joke post but I worry the OP is actually considering these names.
I think they are all awful but Jayda is by far the worst.

heartchakra · 21/06/2022 20:30

Christ ... none of them. Life chances and all that ...

HuntingoftheSnark · 21/06/2022 21:15

I knew a little Piper; not in the UK. I quite like it. How about Avery, Willow, Harley?

Luredbyapomegranate · 21/06/2022 23:43

Piper is OK

The other two - hard no.

Feliciacat · 21/06/2022 23:51

I prefer Maci spelt as Macy (like Macy Gray or the friend in As Told By Ginger). Piper is nice, like in Charmed. Jayda is ok but, as others have said, it seems a bit more conventional spelt as Jada (like Jada Pinkett Smith). Ahhh I miss the 2000s.

KayEmAy · 21/06/2022 23:53

I love the name Piper!
I'd put Macy second and Jayda third :)

Mumofgirls2017 · 21/06/2022 23:56

Definitely Piper!

arethereanyleftatall · 21/06/2022 23:56

If you choose any of those names and spellings for your child, people will, even if this is utterly wrong they still will, apply stereotypes to your child and none of them are positive.

peaceinourtime · 22/06/2022 00:17

Shaya is better name then Jayda. I know one aged around 40, so its not exactly a new aged name. Though you don't hear it a lot.

GreenClock · 22/06/2022 00:24

I like Piper from your list. It’s a pretty name, a bit different.

I agree that Maci brings pronunciation problems. So I’d go for Macey. I also like the suggestion of Maisie if you don’t mind the hard z sound.

AuntTwacky · 22/06/2022 00:32

Pick a proper name?

These names are popular in Ireland among members of the travelling community.

Yep hence people's response to them.

AuntTwacky · 22/06/2022 00:33

There's a Jada on eastenders
