I love Maci but my husband loves Jayda and Piper. Thoughts?

Piper is beautiful.

Maci I read as Maccies as in Maccies D's for tea, then reread as Macie as in Macie Grey (sic). Imo you need the E to capitalise the sound of the a (magic E!) as otherwise it literally is m ah cuh ih vs m aye si ee

Jayda is fine but not ry keen

SummerPuddings · 20/06/2022 14:22

What about Maisie instead?

IcecreamForAlcohol · 20/06/2022 14:27

Jayda is like Jayden for a girl and a bit chavy.

Macy or Macie are ok but not Maci. It would always be pronounced Mackie.

Piper is the least bad.

I wouldn't saddle my DD with any of them to be honest.

Kione · 20/06/2022 14:31

Piper brings to mind Orange is the new Black and even there I thought it was an odd name.

Don't lime Jayda.

Maci nope, Maisie is lovely.

Kione · 20/06/2022 14:32

*like

Inthesameboatatmo · 20/06/2022 14:32

None of those 3 are very nice op sorry.

MrsDoofus · 20/06/2022 14:34

Piper
Jada or Jadi
Macy

Are fine. And I count myself as middle class these days. I agree with what others have said re alternative spellings, they chavvify even the nicest of names.

Lochroy · 20/06/2022 14:35

I could not, for the life of me, work out how to pronounce Maci until I saw the other posts. The best I could come up with was Mackie which sounds too like mucky.

If you want to call her Macy, FFS, call her Macy.

ChickpeaPie · 20/06/2022 14:36

Ooh ive never had a post deleted before!
I’m surprised someone can say they’re a bit teen-mom and I’m not allowed to say chavvy!

Viviennemary · 20/06/2022 14:37

They are all awful IMHO. But its all a matter of personal taste.

Hallyup89 · 20/06/2022 14:38

I actually like Jayda and I know of one who's about 8 or 9 now. Maci needs to be spelled Macie or Macey, but I wouldn't use it, personally. Piper is fairly awful though.

FayCarew · 20/06/2022 14:39

Piper is the least bad of them, but makes me think of someone playing the bagpipes

Maci - is it Macy or Macky or something else?

Jayda - really ugly spelling, sorry.

WhatsInAMolatovMocktail · 20/06/2022 14:40

I think they are all fine, but I’d also prefer a more conventional spelling of Maci if it was my name. I like Jayda and Piper, I don’t know any kids of that name round my local school area.

SuziSecondLaw · 20/06/2022 14:50

Jayda sounds really trashy.

Maci would be OK if spelt correctly.

Piper is OK, feels like an American name, not sure why. Not that it matters either way.

SharpLily · 20/06/2022 13:44

I think you'll get a better response on Netmums...

I'm sorry OP, I don't want to be bitchy but you've asked for opinions so I feel it's fair enough to tell you that I think they're all awful.

What an original response 🙄

PerfectlyQuiet · 20/06/2022 14:55

I read Maci as Makky. As in Makky D's 🍔🍟😂

NippyWoowoo · 20/06/2022 14:56

Your list would be more liked here if they were pretentious names like Ottilie or Theodora.

RickyZooom · 20/06/2022 14:56

I like the spelling of Jade (like Jada Pinkett).
Piper is nice but getting v popular.
Like pp, not keen on the spelling of “Maci”. Just stick to the original spelling!

SuziSecondLaw · 20/06/2022 14:57

But, it doesn't go from pretentious straight to chavvy.. There are also the majority which come somewhere in between..

TwilightSkies · 20/06/2022 14:58

Not a good idea to ask on here OP as it’s full of snobby upper-class wannabes. Only names like Elizabeth and Clementine are acceptable. God forbid anyone might think you are working-class 🙄

Maraa · 20/06/2022 15:09

I love Piper, was on my list but dh ruled it out.
Not personally keen on the others but it’s always your choice. However I do know a teen Maci and it suits her perfectly

Chaoslatte · 20/06/2022 15:14

@TwilightSkies Elizabeth is a classless name imo. I can easily imagine someone from any walk of life called Elizabeth (probably why Eliza Doolittle got her name).

NippyWoowoo · 20/06/2022 15:16

SuziSecondLaw · 20/06/2022 14:57

It doesn’t change the truth of what I said.

TheWayoftheLeaf · 20/06/2022 15:18

Piper.

Not a fan of Jayda or Maci tbh.

SirChenjins · 20/06/2022 15:19

Maci - too much like Maccy D
Jayda - don't like it, sorry. Probably because it reminds me too much of Jada Smith who I dislike (along with her thug husband)
Piper - I sort of like it, but not sure. It's OK.
