How would you pronounce Laelia

I would pronounce it like Layla but with a -e-, so maybe bit more drawn LEH--lee-a, where you draw first syllable a bit.

OhRiRi · 18/05/2022 16:50

BobLep0nge · 18/05/2022 16:51

LA-eel-ia

GetOffTheTableMabel · 18/05/2022 16:52

I would say Lay-Leah. But, tbh, if I just saw it written down, I would assume there’d been a typo/spelling mistake made.

MissPocket · 18/05/2022 16:54

Lay-Lee-a

Lulu1919 · 18/05/2022 17:05

Lay- Leah
Lay- la would be spelt Layla or Laila I feel

whatausername · 18/05/2022 17:36

Laboriously.

As a serious answer: lay-lee-ah

CupidStunt22 · 18/05/2022 17:38

its pronounce lay-lee-ah and its a kind of orchid.

PortalooSunset · 18/05/2022 17:47

LAY-lee-a, stress on the first syllable, is what I'd assume. But I'd ask the parents (or the person if they're older, obvs) how they pronounce it before using it.

FloraGreysteel · 18/05/2022 18:09

I would pronounce it LIE-li-ah. Did you make it up?

DurhamDurham · 18/05/2022 18:11

How can you pronounce it Layla when there's 'ia' at the end?

BernadetteRostankowskiWolowitz · 18/05/2022 18:11

Is it a name? Or is it Leila but with a bit of a alteration?

Pieceofpurplesky · 18/05/2022 18:12

Lay-Lee-a as in azaylia

whosaidtha · 18/05/2022 18:15

It's not name. No babies have been called this in England or Wales. don't saddle your child with a non name with pronunciation issues.

TabithaTittlemouse · 18/05/2022 18:19

La ellie ah

It’s a bit much.

PulledPineapple · 18/05/2022 18:19

Lie-Lee-ya

ohCARP · 18/05/2022 18:19

I work with a Lelia pronounced the way you want. She's Greek and apparently it means "well spoken"

Shmithecat2 · 18/05/2022 18:26

Lay-Lee-Ah. I knew a girl with that name, but it was spelled Lelia.

Figgygal · 18/05/2022 18:37

Poor thing would be correcting people her whole life
Dont do it op

Rot · 18/05/2022 18:39

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 18/05/2022 18:39

Yep. Lay-lee-a

KirstenBlest · 18/05/2022 18:42

Layl-ya or La-elly-a

muddyford · 18/05/2022 18:49

Ae is pronounced ee as in faeces. So Leelia.
