I love it, but would like opinions.

If you don't like it, why not? Generally would like opinions ☺️

@BattledoreAndShuttlecock

Makes me think of the dog in Hot Fuzz or the evil Prime Minister in Dr Who.

Aethelstan is nice.

That is nice. Not widely used.

@TatianaBis

What - Saxon as opposed to Sackson?

Tudor/ur is a very old Welsh name.

Haha bless you, just no 😀
inmyslippers · 26/03/2022 13:54

There's plenty of romans knocking around so why not Saxon

TatianaBis · 26/03/2022 14:28

Haha bless you, just no 😀

You gonna tell the Welsh that?

Luredbyapomegranate · 26/03/2022 15:03

@poodlepoop

As in Anglo-Saxon?

It's used by white supremacy groups

A bit of this.

Also makes me think of salt.

There are many better things to call your child.

Titsflyingsouth · 26/03/2022 15:24

A great name for White supremacists, hair metallers or German Shepherd.

For anyone else - not on your life...

deadlanguage · 28/03/2022 15:12

@LizziesTwin

DC knows a Sachsen, v similar but presumably not as white supremacist?
I would take Sachsen as even more white supremacist than Saxon! Any sort of nationalism is taken as more extreme in Germany than the UK. We used to avoid our neighbours because they had a flagpole with the German flag in their garden.
Echobelly · 28/03/2022 15:14

I quite like the sound of it - but like others I fear some people would read it as a white supremacist thing.

Nosetickle · 28/03/2022 15:16

No sorry. I prefer Jaxon and that’s saying something!

2boysDad · 28/03/2022 15:33

In the book/film "V for Vendetta" - which is quite well known, there's a government approved TV character called "Storm Saxon".

Basically a Nazi-superhero figure.

I wonder if that's related to some of the connotations with white supremecy being raised here?

cptartapp · 28/03/2022 15:45

It's a shoe shop of the 90's IIRC.
Awful.

PineappleWilson · 28/03/2022 15:49

If you like the X sound, why not Axel? It's much better than Saxon, which has a very heavy sound to it.

SunshineAndFizz · 28/03/2022 15:50

Isn't the name of a horn?!

Nelliephant1 · 28/03/2022 15:53

Oh no

KirstenBlest · 28/03/2022 15:55

@SunshineAndFizz, that's a klaxon

RoseMartha · 28/03/2022 16:18

I am not keen on it or Roman either tbh.

soulinablackberrypie · 01/04/2022 20:21

I liked the band and I am quite interested in the Saxon period of history. I thought Saxon would make a great boys' name when I was in my teens and 20s, but I don't think I would use it know - I didn't know it was used by white supremacists, but it just feels a bit too consciously "out there" as a name.
