Venus, Story, Ember or Apricot?
I've narrowed my name list down to these.
I want something a little different to the top 20 names if possible.
Middle name would be Jean.
Which is your favourite in order please or what do you think?
Tysm for the help x

🤣

What about Plompoppalina?

Or Rampiningflapalot?

Or Jippydippydoodarbobbles?

So many more lovely names. Smile

@DidgeDoolittle On the other side of anecdotal stories - me and my DSis have very unusual names both named after mythological goddesses - so direct opposite to @WeAreTheHeroes saying not to name after mythological goddesses.

My sister was student council/most popular girl in school and college - doing very well in her industry now. I was popular enough and never bullied once, doing well in a respectable job no issues getting employment ever. The only people who ever commented on my name when I was young were adults actually - who should have been able to keep their close mindedness to themselves.

Reminds me of a kitten I know called Window because my friend let her DC name it...

Kite22 · 11/03/2022 13:22

Aw that's not nice 😭

Nor is it nice to lumber a person with any of the ridiculous suggestions you have made.

BellatrixOnABadDay · 11/03/2022 13:23

@giggly

None of them are children’s names, I mean Story, why just why. Why not go for tower block?
Or what about....

Candlestick
Doughnut
Cushion
Shoebox
Ringbinder
Rug

I'm taking inspiration from the objects in my living room when naming my next child

springtimeishereagain · 11/03/2022 13:23

If none of these have ever been used as names, then there's probably a good reason why!

Not Cherry - nickname for virginity.

germsandcoffee · 11/03/2022 13:24

Ya kid will hate ya for any of those names 🤷‍♀️

Purplecatshopaholic · 11/03/2022 13:24

I opened this thread hoping so badly it wasn’t to do with potential girls names…

GalactatingGoddess · 11/03/2022 13:24

OP if you're serious about an unusual name you'll rarely get a sensible or nice response on here btw 😂

I always wonder when I'll see mine/my daughters and my sisters name up here getting slated. We love our names anyway and our parents made a big deal about being proud of your differences and not always fitting in with people for the sake of it. 👍🏽

whatajuckingfoke · 11/03/2022 13:25

@TerryOrange

Please don’t be an idiot
This, really.

I'm going to assume you're in some sort of hormone fog because those names are terrible!

Just no.

Sarahcoggles · 11/03/2022 13:25

All awful.
This is a person, not an accessory that you can have fun with.

Discodancinggiraffe · 11/03/2022 13:26

You are naming the woman your baby will grow up to become. Please don't turn that woman into a joke.

Purpleavocado · 11/03/2022 13:26

Someone once told me their little girl was called Story and I immediately thought she meant like in a car park - 1st story, 2nd story.

Bettyboopawoop · 11/03/2022 13:26

Why do people do this to their children? Your child has to live with their name for life, children at school will take the piss or she may end up getting bullied why? Because you want to be different? Different is ok if it's a decent name.

loislovesstewie · 11/03/2022 13:26

BTW in real life I would never comment in another person's name choice, but in private I have truthfully had face palm moments.

lottiegarbanzo · 11/03/2022 13:26

Ember Jean is nice enough.

Apricot Jean aka Apricot Jam though, really?

Why are people yes to Story? It's not a name.

Lilac57 · 11/03/2022 13:27

I like the sound of Ember, but it has a pretty rubbish meaning for a name. I guess Venus is Ok, given Venus Williams is a decent role model. I'm a fan of unusual names, but I don't really think any of these options.

Saharafordessert · 11/03/2022 13:28

🙈🙈 definitely pregnancy hormones at work here!

garythesnail · 11/03/2022 13:28

I know a lady called Ember, it's quite nice imo.

cookiemonster2468 · 11/03/2022 13:29

When thinking of names I think it's important to ask yourself "Would I want to be named X?"

I think Apricot and Story are pretty awful tbh and I would hate to have a name like that myself, so I wouldn't give it to a child. Ember and Venus are just about passable.

In your opinion ☠

The meaning of Ember is ok - embers are glowing and warm. You can toast marshmallows over them. You can re-light a fire from them. Those are nice associations.

MurmuratingStarling · 11/03/2022 13:30

@Purpleavocado

Sounds daft doesn't it?
Spaghetti0h · 11/03/2022 13:31

Thanks to the lady who suggested Sailor I actually really like that!
I'm going to look into Korean names too.
