If I’d have had a daughter in the nineties she’d have been Chloe or Jessica or Olivia. Not now though as feel overused and dated. Having said that I wouldn’t give my own children the same names now so you just have to go with what you like at the time.

Lovely name.

emzz89x · 17/02/2022 21:55

Looovee it !!

DramaAlpaca · 17/02/2022 22:45

It's dated and I don't like the 'chl' sound. The meaning is lovely though.

Love love love it

Can someone please explain to me what dated means? Old fashioned?

I absolutely love it ! It would be in my top 5 girls names. I think its timeless - I know Chloes of my age (early forties) right down to babies. I know it hit a peak popularity about 20 years ago, but think it is less common now.

CourtRand · 17/02/2022 23:36

I like it. But most of my best friends have this name so I'm biased

Kanaloa · 17/02/2022 23:48

To me dated is a bit different than old fashioned. I would think it meant stuck in one time period. So like Jennifer or Jason might feel ‘dated’ to the 80s. But old fashioned to me would be further back than the 80s, names like Eugene or Edith. So I would say if you saw a young son and his dad and got told they were Gary and Alfie, you’d probably know the dad was Gary and the son was Alfie, because Gary is quite dated. Whereas if they were James and William it might be harder.

Personally I don’t mind if a name is a bit dated but some people prefer a more ‘classic’ name that sounds quite timeless - something possibly like Thomas or Grace. I like lots of names considered ‘dated.’ I don’t think Chloe is particularly dated though - not in the way a name like Sharon or Tracy seems dated to me. Chloe feels more versatile to me!

Old-fashioned is something like Marjorie that hasn't been popular for many decades and is associated primarily with people over the age of 60, whereas dated is that it's been more recently popular but is primarily associated with people in their early 20s.

I think it's a nice name.

Still plenty of Chloes being born though

Love it - I have one myself 😀

redlabeltea · 25/02/2022 18:13

Love. Never see any little Chloe's and it doesn't sound as dated as say Cheryl, Rachel, Danielle or Jennifer etc.
