Very pretty name.

ouch321 · 17/02/2022 15:57

I like it.

Also like Cleo.

3peassuit · 17/02/2022 15:58

It’s a pretty name.

Blubells · 17/02/2022 17:06

blubells No, if it has anything, it has two dots over the 'e'. The dots are called a diaeresis and show that two letters, side by side, that would often be pronounced as one sound (here, 'oe', as in 'toe' or 'Joe') should be pronounced separately: Chlo-ee.

Yes you're right about the diaeresis, Chloë.

In French it's spelled Chloé though.

minipie · 17/02/2022 17:10

I like it. I know two in their 30s/40s and two under 8.

I wouldn’t put any accents on it though.

TabithaHazel · 17/02/2022 17:15

I don’t love it, the sound reminds me on someone clearing their throat for some reason!

KirstenBlest · 17/02/2022 17:20

That's how I hear it too @TabithaHazelm, the same oes for Clara, Clare and Clemmie

xfgdhfgnhkk007 · 17/02/2022 17:27

Bit dated and 80s to me.

rambleonplease · 17/02/2022 17:30

I like it. I know a couple of Chloes my DD age, so around 9/10 and a few 20 something people I work with.

DogsAndGin · 17/02/2022 17:31

Lovely

Fl0w3ry · 17/02/2022 17:33

I like it. I’ve known a few Chloe’s over the years and they have always been lovely people.

MajorCarolDanvers · 17/02/2022 17:35

Lovely

Sarcobaleno · 17/02/2022 17:39

Don't like it, it sounds dated.

Love Zoe though.

scottishnames · 17/02/2022 17:43

Blubell yes it is in French,; Chloe with an e acute in French sounds fairly similar to Chloe as often pronouced in English.

But Chloe is in origin an ancient Greek name and the English language has quite a long tradition of how to translate/transliterate words from ancient languages.

Intrestingly, modern Greek has a symbol over the 'o' rather than over the 'e' to show that the two vowels are pronounced separately. And the initial 'Ch' sound is very, very different from English - or French.

becca3210 · 17/02/2022 17:59

Also prefer Cleo and Zoe

Blubells · 17/02/2022 20:20

Cleo / Cleopatra is much nicer - I agree.

LilacSloth · 17/02/2022 20:55

I love it. I don't think it's dated at all. A very pretty name that people know how to spell and pronounce.

GiantSpider · 17/02/2022 20:56

I really like Chloe.

chattycaterpillar · 17/02/2022 20:58

I really like Chloe.

spaceman1 · 17/02/2022 21:01

I love it.

VioletCharlotte · 17/02/2022 21:07

I've always liked the name Chloe. It was popular in the late 90s and early 00's.

I love Clover too which is quite similar.

Kanaloa · 17/02/2022 21:33

It’s nice and pretty and could suit anyone. I think it actually sounds a lot fresher than something like Cleo, which I don’t like so much and know a couple of small ones.

GrendelsGrandma · 17/02/2022 21:34

Always sounds like someone coughing up a furball to me, sorry
