I’m unexpectedly pregnant with #2 and I’m trying to focus on names to help me get excited.

Can anyone suggest French girl names that end in ie? Not Amelie. If possible a bit more unusual. Two syllables or maybe three.

I really love Claudie but not the meaning (lame/crippled) so something similar would be nice.

I know not French but I also really like Maely… So I guess wildcard suggestions welcome too.

Love Manon. Works in French and Welsh and straightforward to pronounce in England. Also love Clemence since I watched Harry Potter.

I agree with the pp that some of the names are dated in France. Sylvie, Nathalie and Amelie would be in their 40s or 50s

Interestingly, according to the website I linked to, Amélia is more popular than Amélie now.

Names ending in A are definitely in vogue.

For those who’ve suggested Manon, how do you think it would be pronounced in the UK? I taught one in France and liked the sound but it struck me as something British people might struggle with, where to put the emphasis and how to say the last bit?

I think it would be pronounced exactly as it is spelled, with an audible N at the end.

I don’t know anyone who doesn’t know how to pronounce Manon, but for those who don’t - it’s not hard to learn. Brits seem to cope with Anaïs + Inès.

Manon is used as a Welsh name and it's pronounced MAN-on.
It's also a French name but pronounced in the French way
