Think I've gone off our baby's name!

Baby girl due in the next few weeks, since finding out we were expecting and then 100% decided when we found out she was a girl we have decided on the name Millie- to the point we've not got a back up. I still like the name but for some reason these last couple of weeks I feel like I'm not 100%. I don't know if this is just FTM last minute panicking 😂. If not, any similar suggestions? Her middle name will 100% be Eliza x

Millie is a lovely name on its own, but perhaps if it was short for a longer name it would give more options? Camilla, Millicent, Amelia, Emily, Romilly?

Alternatively how about Lily, Marnie, Chloe, Annie, Kizzy, Naomi, Suzy, Bethany, Ivy, Lucy, Poppy, Katie, Holly?

SprinkledGlitter · 13/02/2022 12:09

Matilda / Tilly

Swearwolf · 13/02/2022 12:12

You still have time to decide, with my oldest we had a shortlist and went off them all and had to go back to the drawing board once he was born! Why not look at other names and see if you find something you like more?

MintJulia · 13/02/2022 12:14

It's a good reason to give her several names, so you and she have alternatives in future.

narcdad · 13/02/2022 12:29

Personally I dislike the name Millie, twee and weak sounding, also very popular at the moment.

I was dead set for calling my dd Sienna then about a week before she was born completely went off it and named her something else.

TatianaBis · 13/02/2022 12:50

I prefer Milly with a y, less twee.

BabyFeb22 · 13/02/2022 12:52

I absolutely love Chloe and always have it was always going to be my 'baby name' but DP had an ex called Chloe and while I'm really don't care about it he does! I also love Matilda but he doesn't 😂. Trust me to change my mind last minute! Also people have bought us personalised stuff even though I said I didn't want stuff with her name on just in case!

I'm not keen on Millie.
Lottie for Charlotte is nice imo.
Or Eliza as a first name is beautiful.

RosesAndHellebores · 13/02/2022 12:56

DS was going to be Hugo until he was born. He wasn't a Hugo. (it was my 2nd choice tbf but not a hill I'd have died on). Had it sorted by the time he was 10 hours old. With my first choice. Similar with DD. DH wanted Imogen, I wanted Isabel. Decided she was something else again in abt 10 hours.

Keep an open mind and good luck.

Hellocatshome · 13/02/2022 13:01

Eliza would be a lovely first name, if you like Eliza why keep it for a middle name if you dont have a first name you are absolutely 100% on.

17caterpillars1mouse · 13/02/2022 14:56

Millie is lovely, though I think I would personally spell it Milly. I actually don't know any Millie's / Milly's.

I like it as a stand alone name or as a NN for Millicent / Amelia

I also like Eliza.

I will suggest Ginny and Molly as they have a similar sound / feel

whysoserious123 · 13/02/2022 15:07

What about

Milleah (Mil - leah) Eliza

Amillie Eliza

Millina Eliza

Minnie Eliza

Or similar names

Emmaline Eliza

Bonnie Eliza

Aubrey Eliza

Cilla Eliza

Luredbyapomegranate · 13/02/2022 20:26

I think Millie is nice as a nn but not a full name, it could be short for..

Millicent Eliza
Emily Eliza
Camilla Eliza
Melinda
Melissa
Romilly
Amanda - Milly sometimes used as a nn, not sure why

Or Amelia/Emilia, but then Elizabeth would be better as the mn

Otherwise Polly, Molly, Minnie, Marnie - Minnie at least really needs a full name -

blameitonthecaffeine · 13/02/2022 20:54

If you're not sure about Millie but think you might come back to it then I agree with PPs that it would be an idea to go for one of the (many) names that could easily abbreviate to Millie.

Alternatively, names that I think have a similar vibe to Millie:
Annie, Abbie, Avery, Bonnie, Betsy, Betty, Connie, Callie, Cassie, Carrie, Casey, Daisy, Darcey, Dulcie, Elodie, Ellie, Evie, Elsie, Esme, Edie, Frankie, Gracie, Georgie, Halle, Holly, Heidi, Hebe, Ivy, Indie, Jessie, Josie, Jodie, Katie, Kitty, Lily, Lucy, Leonie, Lexie, Lacey, Libby, Lottie, Misty, Molly, Miley, Macey, Marnie, Melody, Nancy, Nellie, Poppy, Polly, Penny, Ruby, Rosie, Romy, Remi, Riley, Sophie, Sadie, Sydney, Tilly, Tessie, Tammy, Vivi, Winnie, Zoe

Often you think of something immediately, try a million others as convince yourself it’s not right and go back on it anyway. You can definitely overthink it. It always feels weird naming a human at first but it’s a nice name.

Caramelcap · 13/02/2022 21:54

I like Millie 😊 Also like the idea of Emily shortened to Millie. Although I'm early 30s so know a lot of Emilys as was very common in '89/90!

Synchrony · 13/02/2022 21:59

Just wanted to say, don't let a few personalised gifts sway you!!!

Personalised gifts already? This is why I didn't announce my baby's name until she was born. Don't let these gifts put you off changing the name if you're unsure!

I don't personally like Millie, I find it a bit of a "meh" name, just not my taste. I love Eliza!

bloominglovelyorange · 14/02/2022 15:07

Millie is gorgeous - I'd stick with it

Love chloe. How about Marnie or Zoe

babyjellyfish · 14/02/2022 15:10

I don't really like Millie either. It would be better if it was short for something.

Eliza is a much better name.

If you like Chloe but don't want to use it because of your husband's ex, what about Zoe?

Buddhabowl · 14/02/2022 15:16

Seeing as you asked, I really really dislike Millie. It is so nicknamey and lacks any substance, I'd hate to be called it as a full name as an adult. My niece Amelia has been nicknamed Millie and I thought it was such a shame as Amelia never gets used.
If you really like Millie, I think Emilia is beautiful, or Amelie.

Whatdramain2022 · 14/02/2022 15:28

I also dislike Millie. It's very much a nickname. If you decide you do like it, give her a full first name. I really can't imagine an adult called Millie. Emilia, Emily, Millicent and Amelie can all be shortened to Millie.

Rawtinhail · 14/02/2022 15:34

If I am lucky enough to conceive and it's a girl, Milly is currently my number one name (plus happens to be the only one husband agrees on). Lola is growing on me too. It's not one I had considered previously until I recently got to know a Lola (19-ish) and she was everything I'd hope my daughter would be like.

TakeYourFinalPosition · 14/02/2022 15:36

I think this is really normal.

Everyone in both my pregnancy and NCT groups had this, it they were set on a name. It seems to be a valid stage! I’d give it time.

Millie is really cute.
