Always makes me think of chlamydia

thewhatsit · 19/01/2022 13:00

Love it. Still kind of regret that DD isn’t called Lydia but DH didn’t like it.

NeedAHoliday2021 · 19/01/2022 13:01

I have a Lydia and love it. She’s a teen and has never called chlamydia. Can’t help thinking that says more about the mnetter than a realistic issue with the name. It’s an unusual bit lovely name. I know 3 and all are absolutely wonderful teens, polite and friendly.

mumsiedarlingrevolta · 19/01/2022 13:04

I love it-DS's girlfriend is called lydia and she is 27.

Really nice name and not too overexposed

LavenderRosemary · 19/01/2022 13:10

Lydia is lovely. Really nice name.

SirChenjins · 19/01/2022 13:12

I don't like it - it's the ditzy bride in Four Weddings or the insufferable Bennet daughter. I've also heard the 'lydia teapot' and 'chlamydia' reference in RL, so it puts me off the name.

Grumpyosaurus · 19/01/2022 16:53

I love it. I know a really feisty funny one which has just made me love the name even more.

GreyGoose1980 · 19/01/2022 20:34

Thanks all. It’s outside the top 100 names so good to hear of a few other Lydias. Think we will probably use it if I can keep DH on board.

A beautiful name but a bit dated.

DisforDarkChocolate · 19/01/2022 20:41

I absolutely love it.
Lydia and Lyvia are two of my favourite names.

Mouthfulofquiz · 19/01/2022 20:42

Love it 100%

PPCD · 19/01/2022 22:12

@StrychnineInTheSandwiches

Poor Lydia Bennet. She was 15, bored, and horny that meant she made some unwise choices when faced with a flirty rogue in regimentals.

I like the name.

I love this synopsis.

Lydia is a great name

KohlaParasaurus · 20/01/2022 08:37

@frasersmummy

So long as you are not planning a move to the west of Scotland its lovely

Up here she would get called lydia kettle (say it in a Glasgow accent if you don't understand)

That was my mother's favourite "knock knock" joke except that her version was Lydia Dustbin.
MissHavishamsMouldyOldCake · 20/01/2022 10:18

I love Lydia

sibbys · 20/01/2022 12:48

I think of the mean aunt in Hand Maids Tale. Sorry

PattyPan · 20/01/2022 12:55

I think it's a lovely name, and strikes a good balance between not being too popular but also being easy to spell and pronounce.

APileofLogs · 20/01/2022 18:42

Lydia the Tattooed Lady

Liv999 · 21/01/2022 10:06

Really dislike Lydia, dont like the way it sounds and find it a bit dull

Nitties · 21/01/2022 15:11

Beautiful name

loveinthe90s · 21/01/2022 15:13

Absolutely beautiful and classic name ❤️

I love this name and it was my great grand mothers name too so was on our list. But for me it's important that my dd's name has nice role models and aunt Lydia really ruined this for me. She is the most horrible character on all tv, such a pity!

EishetChayil · 23/01/2022 20:08

I used to love it until I discovered that "lidia" means bullfighting in Spanish.

Atypicaldancer · 23/01/2022 21:28

It’s a fairly international name as names go. You’re never going to get a name that will travel perfectly in every language.

In Germany some areas pronounce it Loo dia which is also pretty.

Once you give the name to your child, it becomes their name. Mine is beautiful and adores her name. If everyone loved it, it would become ubiquitous.

UserBot999 · 23/01/2022 21:30

Love it
