How would you spell it?

@pencilsontheceiling

Aimee more to it than amy which is a bit bland.
Playing devils advocate... does it make that much difference seeing as names are spoken more often than written?

Then again, we're on a thread to debate the spelling, so...

Amy.

Amy

bubblebath62636 · 19/11/2021 13:24

Amy.

I also know an Ammee 😂

BasiliskStare · 19/11/2021 13:28

Are we quorate Grin (obviously OP's choice )

BalladOfBarryAndFreda · 19/11/2021 13:30

Amy

My name is yooneekly spelled (because it is a shortening) and it causes problems.

bxbynxmelxver4 · 19/11/2021 22:55

Aimee's nice but I would go with Amy as that's the way I think most people would spell it as it's the traditional spelling

CouncilHousedAndViolentBaby · 20/11/2021 01:29

Aimee😆Sorry

user1471601171 · 20/11/2021 01:36

Amy. I actually know someone who spells it Amie 😂

MadeOfStarStuff · 20/11/2021 12:17

Amy

VanillaAndOrange · 20/11/2021 16:55

Amy, if you want the usual pronunciation. I'd want to pronounce the other version "Emmay" like in French.

Frazzled2207 · 20/11/2021 16:56

I know and Amie.

But yeah Amy

waitingpatientlyforspring · 20/11/2021 16:57

Amy

MonsteraDeliciosa · 21/11/2021 21:23

@BewareTheBeardedDragon

The thing is, Aimée in French is pronounced completely differently to Amy in English, so unless you're going to use the French pronunciation then the French spelling would be a bit silly, IMO.
This^

I like Aimée, it means "loved" but I knew one (with the acute) who pronounced it Amy, which is silly.

MrsSkimpole · 21/11/2021 21:25

Amy. No contest.

Moby715 · 21/11/2021 21:30

Amy

3peassuit · 21/11/2021 21:33

Amy.

NothingSafe · 21/11/2021 22:35

Amy. But I'm biased as I am one Grin

I know several Aimees, an Amie, and an Aimie (bleh) - I think mine is the superior spelling for the UK though Wink

MissDollyMix · 21/11/2021 22:38

Amy. I love it. Reminds me of little women.

RiaOverTheRainbow · 21/11/2021 22:42

Amy

katem22 · 22/11/2021 20:16

pictish · 22/11/2021 20:18

Srettel · 22/11/2021 20:27

Amy

@user1485434323

I'm an Amy and never get asked how to spell my name. I can only assume and other variation just gets spelt incorrectly
My granny spells my name Emy Grin but I think she's just contrary like that!

So obviously I vote Amy Grin.

The thing is, Aimée in French is pronounced completely differently to Amy in English, so unless you're going to use the French pronunciation then the French spelling would be a bit silly, IMO

The pronunciation thing is true, but it's hardly like Aimee is an unknown, is it? It's a standard way of spelling the name, has been for donkeys, no one is going to ponce about trying to pronounce it as a French word. And OP didn't include the accent either.

TatianaBis · 24/11/2021 01:00

I prefer Aimée pronounced correctly. But that’s not what OP meant.
