Grace

Annalise is fifteen and is bright and sparky. She loves to dress in a slightly quirky way and to stand out in a crowd. She wants to be an actuary, which is a surprise to everyone.

Constance

Constance is a worrier. She worries about everything which impacts her day. She gets very little done and constantly writes notes and to do lists in her little book (which never get crossed out)

Rory

Rory, 24, is constantly embarrassed by his name because it suggests someone rugged, but he's a weedy, geeky type. No matter how much he eats, he can't get his weight above 9 stone, even though he's 6' 1. He's passionate about history, particularly the Napoleonic Wars and he's a member of a re-enactment group where he can forget about his looks and pretend he's Sean Bean. He still holds a candle for Tabitha, his uni girlfriend, a goth who treated him mean and dumped him for the president of the debating society. He works in a call-centre which he doesn't mind, but he dreams of writing historical fiction for a living though all he's had is rejections so far.

New name - Patrick

Patrick is 63. He was a journalist on the local evening newspaper. He prefers to be called Pat by his friends at the micro brewery he frequents. He wears chinos and a checked shirt with a wax jacket.

Ashleigh

Patrick is a 32 year old first time dad, with flaming red hair and a freckled nose. Patrick's father was called Patrick. And his father's father and his father's father's father. Patrick has called his new son Noah.

Franklyn

Franklyn lives in Dalston and interns at a production company - but does night shifts at a hipster coffee to pay the rent on the studio flat he shares with 3 other people.

He's 23, from Tunbridge Wells, and is really called Francis (Frankie to his mum).

Lex.

Lex is 70 and lives in an apartment in Hampstead. He and his wife Rosalind met at University when Lex was an undergraduate studying Architecture. He ran his own practice until his retirement at the age of 65. Rosalind never worked but has always had a very busy social life.
They have no children and are under the illusion that they live a relatively modest life - oblivious to the fact that their situation is more privileged and comfortable than the majority of people their age.

New name: Casey

Casey was named after a handsome American film star and has always felt he never lived up to his good looks. He over compensates by being a good time guy. He says yes to everything, even the very unwise. He talks at you, not to you. He never met anyone to settle down with and calls his best mate's wife "ball and chain".

Casey grew up on a treeless new estate 50km out of Melbourne. Far from public transport and with nothing to do, she taught herself piano on a keyboard her neighbour gave her, then, with other bored kids, started a band. After rehearsals Casey would lie in her tree-free back yard and gaze at the stars. Her parents chided her for wasting time, but secretly they admired her for her graceful breezing between school work and music and how she seemed to know everyone in their neighbourhood. Though she thought of herself as creative rather than a STEM type, she blitzed high school maths and physics, then studied astronomy at uni. Casey now has a dilemma -- does she go on a European tour with her band, which is big on Spotify, or does she take up her PhD scholarship to Harvard?

Casper is 11 years old. He is well behaved and well liked although very average acedemically. He is often caught daydreaming in school. His parents think he is gifted and a genius. He is learning to play the guitar and has a private tutor for French and maths.
His parents take him on holiday to the South of France. He dreams of going to Tenerife like the other boys at school.

Casper is 17, the tall, pale wiry son of Australian parents who watched a lot of British murder mysteries on TV. At his private school in Sydney he surprised everyone by becoming district then state champion in tae kwon do, a ferocious Korean martial art. Quiet and modest, he was gloomily pondering an array of deskbound careers and feeling distinctly underwhelmed -- but now that he has qualified for the Australian Olympics team, perhaps he can put that off for a while.

Tayla-Jayde.

Stephanie is a physiotherapist. She wears her hair in a high pony. Her land rover is old and used to belong to her dad. Stephanie gets up every morning at 5am, to sort out the horses before she goes to work.

Matilda

A model and glamour girl in the 1990s, Natasha went through a hard time when her marriage ended and liposuction didn't work. Now in her 50s, she runs an organic market garden that supplies top restaurants. She somehow looks chic in dirty overalls and is often the subject of lifestyle magazine interviews.

When Tayla-Jayde was 16, the age her mother was when she was born, she was hugely embarrassed by her misspelled name, her incompetent mother, her poverty stricken home. At sixth form college she reinvented herself as TJ, and was shy and secretive about her background. Now 21, in her final year studying PPE at Oxford, she's Tayla-Jayde again,cool and popular and proud of where she came from and the efforts she's made to get here.

Cameron

Cameron is from up north and he's really proud of it, more so since he moved down south to study fashion design in Brighton. He's gay and loud and kind and funny and eccentric. His close friends call him Cam and he likes drinking cocktails and dancing the night away. He's been single for a long time because he expects true romance and won't settle for any less.

Helena

Helena is 35 and rather gaunt as she has struggled with anorexia ever since she started secondary school. She is always extremely hard on herself. She has dark hair with golden glints, brown eyes and fair skin. She is a talented church musician and belongs to several choral ensembles.

Dwight

Dwight is skinny, American, wears big glasses and had his hair in an awkward centre parting. He looks a bit like a serial killer from the 1970s who you seen in a documentary and think "How did nobody know he was a serial killer? I could tell just from looking at him."

He comes from a very religious family, a serious, unsmiling Christian household, with wooden crosses on white walls who believe that any type of luxury is sinful.

Amy

Dwight was always in trouble at school. He didn't pass many exams. However he was very good at sport and football in particular. He was spotted by a talent scout as a teenager and now plays for a professional club.
He is 25 and his girlfriend is a YouTube influencer.
With the money he earnt he had his teeth fixed and bought himself a ridiculously expensive sports car. He now lives in a nice house, far removed from the rough streets where he grew up.

Amy is 30 years old and lives with her husband and 4 children. She is currently pregnant. Her house is chaotic with all the kids running around plus the 2 dogs and the budgie. There are always piles of clothes in the living room either waiting to be ironed or waiting to be put away.
Amy is a stay at home mum. She did work in a nursery when she left school but as soon as she had her first child she became a SHAM. Her husband Liam works as a car mechanic and is always dirty. Amy is small and round.

Catherine.

Dwight is a full time anesthesiologist from Denver, now living in Chipping Norton with his partner Marie, who is Welsh. They are both of average height and are gently good-looking greying blonds with unremarkable tastes in clothing.They met while he was on a Rhodes Scholarship while she was studying at Homerton College - she now teaches one day a week in the village school while studying for an MSc with the Open University. They have 3 children in their early teens, several pets, a lovely (albeit not ostentatious) home and lifestyle.

They are active in their community and very family-orientated. Their friends and neighbours absolutely love them, while secretly thinking they are rather tame and boring. However, Marie and Dwight are very much in love, and also have an absolutely stonking sex life that no-one would guess at (but, why not?)

Next: Stuart & Robin, who are twins.

Stuart and Robin are a pain in the arse.
Their mother found it difficult to cope as she had PND after they were born. Their father found it difficult too and spent most of their childhood at work. To try to compensate he asked his overbearing mother to go round ,and help his wife with the child care. His wife hated his mother and really struggled. As a result Robin and Stuart got away with murder. They always did everything together. Went through school together then the same university. They have the same friends and now that they are 35 they live close to each other and socialise together. They are both married to nice women.
They no longer look alike but both dress the same in dull, ordinary clothes and are both losing their hair. They have wishywasy blue/grey eyes, are average height and could do with toning up.
They hold BBQs at each other's house and annoy the neighbours by staying out late and having their guests park all over the street. They are both into IT and people avoid getting into conversation with them as they are quite boring.
The neighbours like their wives though and that is why they appear more popular than they really are.
