Love it! It’s been on our list for if we ever have a dd for a couple of years!

Aorh · 27/10/2021 07:33

I love it. It wasn’t one of my top few, so was never a serious contender for us, but it was in the batch just outside.

PlantMummy87 · 27/10/2021 07:49

It's lovely, I know a couple of baby/toddler Frida's

LynetteScavo · 27/10/2021 07:49

Not too out there. I heard of a 5yo Frida recently, and though it's lovely.

daisypond · 27/10/2021 10:59

I like it a lot. Frieda would be my first spelling, though.

Sarcobaleno · 27/10/2021 11:43

Love it

JauntyJinty · 27/10/2021 11:50

I have 2 sons but loved Frida for if I had a girl.

Alough with my surname it was ponited out it could be said as Free da with the surname being the thing to be "freed" - so maybe keep thet in mind?! Grin I don't there's many surnames that works for though!

groovergirl · 27/10/2021 13:47

I'm an ABBA fan, so Frida works for me. It looks elegant and fresh.
Beautiful Scandi rock star is a good association.

SirenSays · 27/10/2021 13:49

I'm not a fan, it makes me think of those snot suckers.

Cas112 · 27/10/2021 13:50

Its my sisters middle name and I love it!

I would definitely consider it as a first name for my daughter if I ever have one

Blubells · 27/10/2021 13:52

Frida looks weird and I'd pronounce it Fridda

Frieda is more common and pronounced Freeda

pottermag · 27/10/2021 14:36

@LetHimHaveIt

It's Jamie Redknapp's new missus, isn't it? I think it's a bit 'old lady'ish as 'Frieda' or 'Freda' (very much thinking Victoria Wood's 'The Ballad of Freda and Barry' here) but strangely less so when 'Frida'. I think younger generations are less likely to think it has 'elderly' connotations.
This is actually one of the reasons I wondered about it! Any chance it might be coming back into fashion? Trying to think of a name for DD3 (due in a few weeks) and want something slightly unusual but not frumpy. The other option is Etta.

My answer is not going to be popular I think.. Friday is a lovely cool name, I personally really like it! I just wanted to point out that some kids can be cruel:( if you had a daughter who was to be dark haired and had maybe some more hair than blond kids/teenagers she could end up being bullied with the name like this. Which obviously is not OK and completely stupid but maybe it’s something you’d like to think about.
The name is lovely though!

Elisemum · 27/10/2021 14:54

Sorry I should have added : I said the above becouse we all know Frida with the unibrow and a little facial hair etc. She was super cool of course but kids are kids. So just a thought. Anyway, great name

schnubbins · 27/10/2021 14:54

I love it and its very popular again in Germany.Frieden means 'peace' in German so it also has a lovely meaning if spelled Frieda.

schnubbins · 27/10/2021 14:55

Pronounced "Free da"

Finchall · 27/10/2021 15:13

I know a Fryda - rather cool.

Love Etta too tho.

elfran · 27/10/2021 15:19

I love it (was on our list for DD), might have spelled it Frieda as it's a family name on my German side, but I actually prefer Frida. Cool, arty, vintage, Scandi - it hits a lot of plus points.

It's miles nicer and more unusual than Etta OP! Sorry, I always think Etta is a bit dull. 😐

AuntDympna · 27/10/2021 15:28

Friday is a fantastic name lol @elisemum !

Ever since I found out that Frideswide is a woman's name pronounced Frida Sweeda and means "peaceful strength" I've loved it. She was a very tough independent woman who established an abbey in Oxford.

I keep thinking Fruity Sweety too and that makes me laugh.

mamaoffourdc · 27/10/2021 15:29

I love it

MeredithGreyishblue · 27/10/2021 15:34

It's fab. Not frumpy at all.

PanicBuyingSprouts · 27/10/2021 15:43

I absolutely adore it. Sadly we couldn't use it with our last name.

SirSidneyRuffDiamond · 27/10/2021 15:47

It's very cool and with the Scandi vibe.

Pandoraslastchance · 27/10/2021 15:55

I love the name and it has some very strong connections with the family.

But I thought it would be too much and chickened out and went with Freya, one of the safest names out there atm)

Awful
