Christy/Christie for a boy?

This could be hormones talking as I'm only a few days from giving birth with no agreed boys names... Will everyone think it's a girl? I like something about it but I don't know what.

I didn't know this was a girls name ? I know over 5 men called Christy...I'm in Ireland though

@myheartskippedabeat

Girls names for a boy?????? Why?

Because it's not just a girl's name.

TheYearOfSmallThings · 24/09/2021 08:19

By the way Christy Moore is not the only famous Christy. There's also Christy Dignam (of Aslan fame) and Christy Brown (of My Left Foot fame). And I know numerous infamous Christys.

I don't think I know any female Christys.

What's wrong with Christopher or Christian ?

ToadstoolBubbleMaker · 24/09/2021 10:07

Nothing particularly wrong with Christopher or Christian but I like the sound of Christy.

I see it as an old Irishman's name (which is a vibe I like) but DH falls into the 'its too girly' camp so it has been vetoed.

Yeah, I defo agree with your dh.

Elisemum · 24/09/2021 16:27

@ToadstoolBubbleMaker, good decision from you DH:)

LadyMacbethWasMisunderstood · 25/09/2021 00:38

I love it and would not think it is a girl’s name.

Kanaloa · 25/09/2021 00:42

Christopher is nice, and underused at the moment. Christy could be a nickname for that. I don’t like it as a first name.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 25/09/2021 00:44

Shame it’s been vetoed, I like it as a nn for the full name Christopher

Peach01 · 26/09/2021 23:27

I agree with your DH, it sounds feminine.

I can't really say much, I like the name Cassie or Casee for a boy. It's clearly a girl name, so I'm considering Cassius or Cassiel. But either way, I'd still probably name him Cassie 🤷🏻‍♀️

MysteriousMonkey · 27/09/2021 13:55

Yes they will assume female... But I still like it. You have to hope your boy is the type that can pull it off though!
