Christy/Christie for a boy?

This could be hormones talking as I'm only a few days from giving birth with no agreed boys names... Will everyone think it's a girl? I like something about it but I don't know what.

No

MajorCarolDanvers · 22/09/2021 16:40

I think its a girls name.

Chris is nice.

LonelySock · 22/09/2021 16:41

Short for Christopher? Definitely. Christopher is a lovely name and if he doesn't like the nickname Christie, he can be Chris or Christopher.

HungryHippo11 · 22/09/2021 16:41

People will definitely assume its a girl.

DobieGrayshark · 22/09/2021 16:49

Although Christy Moore is cool. And he’s a man. It might work ok if you’re in Ireland maybe.

OfficerByrd · 22/09/2021 16:50

I like it short for Christopher. I also think of Christie Moore!

MythicalBiologicalFennel · 22/09/2021 16:52

1/10

TheHumanSatsuma · 22/09/2021 16:53

I taught a boy called Christy, he was lovely.
You could always name him Christopher and use Christy as a short version.

CeeceeBloomingdale · 22/09/2021 16:54

I know a Christy, his full name is Christian. I wouldn’t choose the short version as a name personally.

MintMatchmaker · 22/09/2021 16:54

A cousin of mine is Christopher but known to many as Christy. I wouldn’t use Christy as a full name.

ToadstoolBubbleMaker · 22/09/2021 16:55

It's Christy Moore that gave me the inspiration! Grin

Ok so not overly popular on here. I'll see what DH thinks.

GemmaRuby · 22/09/2021 16:55

Yes I would assume a girl

StevieNix · 22/09/2021 16:57

As short for Christopher or Christian it’s lovely- as for just Christy on its own as the registered name- no!

NecklessMumster · 22/09/2021 16:59

I love Christy and wanted it for DS but my mum begged me not to due to Christie the serial killer Hmm

RiotAtTheRodeo · 22/09/2021 17:05

Pretty common in Ireland for older men. Christy Moore, Christy Brown, Christy O'Connor etc. In the UK he might be assumed to be a girl.

Wapawapa · 22/09/2021 17:08

Makes me think of My Left Foot

ufucoffee · 22/09/2021 17:12

Girls name definitely.

TheIrritableGoldfish · 22/09/2021 17:14

Like it as a nn for Christopher or Christian.

onelittlefrog · 22/09/2021 17:49

I know a man called Christie and I think of it as a male name. Spelling it Kristie would make it female.

If you name him Christopher you can call him Christie and he can become Chris when older if he prefers.

miltonj · 22/09/2021 17:56

No don't do it

Etinox · 22/09/2021 18:02

Very strong evocation of old Irishman. Which is lovely, but not for a baby.

megletthesecond · 22/09/2021 18:04

No.

AliceMcK · 22/09/2021 18:05

If I had a boy he would have been Christopher, Christy for short.

Elisemum · 22/09/2021 20:03

I’d assume it’s 100% girl. Please don’t do it, go with Christopher or Christian- both very nice names

DramaAlpaca · 22/09/2021 20:10

I know a few here in Ireland, including a teenager. It's always spelled Christy.
