Margot, Violet or Dorothy?

Which would you go for? I’m slightly concerned about popularity of the first two. I like the nickname potential of Dorothy, although maybe both Dolly and Dotty are slightly silly? Will probably use one as a first and one as a middle name.

Mind you Dorothy is on a big upswing and could overtake the other two names so don't just pick it based on lower popularity as it might surprise you

Dorothy is nice and surely due a revival? Wizard of Oz, etc. There's also Dorothea.

Margot - I don't really like any Margaret derived names that much as Margaret still has a middle aged vibe to me. I probably need to update my associations with this group of names though.

I don't particularly like Violet, as it still seems a bit fusty Victorian to me, plus close to the word 'violent'. I love Viola though.

I prefer Violet.

Dorothy! You might also like Daphne?

I love Violeta (Vee-o- letta) but that might be too fussy for your taste.

Dorothy is lovely. Violet is nice too.

In terms of popularity, although Dorothy is out of the top hundred, it is rising very sharply in popularity. My favourite of the three is Margot. I'm not a fan of Dorothy, but I do like the similar Dorothea.

It's strong and feminine.
Slightly unusual but fits with the old lady revival. (Which I love)

Violet is too near violence for me.

Margot is gorgeous.
But I prefer Margaret - it's slightly more edgy and glamorous I think.

Love Violet, Margot is fine if everywhere. Dorothy is dreadful.
