Hypothetical really as we are still undecided on baby number 3.
But we still discuss names Grin
What does everyone think of Marley for a girl?
Siblings are Hannah Rosalie and Louise Lily.

Thankyou x

I'd feel she lucked out. Your other dds names are gorgeous and timeless, Marley is a dogs name and of its time, in fact already feels dated.

Orangesarenottheonlyfruit · 17/08/2021 19:08

My DH has a theory that with 3 kids the good names get used up on the first 2. The third always sounds like a pet. Sorry but Marley reminds me of the dog in Marley & Me or the singer.

pinkcircustop · 17/08/2021 19:09

Marley is a (male) dogs name.

Crockof · 17/08/2021 19:10

However my hypothetical names wouldn't stand the MN tests either, but that's why I enjoy thinking about them more than having to name an actual person.

Livvielo · 17/08/2021 19:10

My DH doesn’t like it that much tbh. I love it. My children would probably have different names if it was purely up to me. I wanted Rosalie as a first name for Hannah. Sad
He likes: Florence, Georgina, Harriet and Lucy.

It's a dogs name! Honestly why would you do that?

Livvielo · 17/08/2021 19:13

I didn’t even think of Bob Marley either Grin
I wanted Teddie for Louisa. I don’t know how we even made a compromise. I call her Lulu though.

I don’t think it would even pass my DH’s name test anyway. Sadly.

It’s a type of flooring - it’d be like calling her Vinyl.

Crockof · 17/08/2021 19:14

I do love Rosalie, we shared final choice so we had a shortlist, dh chose from the list DC1, and then I chose from different shortlist DC2. Then as I thought we'd stop I pulled birthing privilege and chose DC3 (from agreed shortlist)
If he had more input in Hannah and Louisa could you have final say in DC3?
What are the boy names?

Crockof · 17/08/2021 19:16

Lulu is a lovely nickname. I know everyone would say its a joint decision but if you have compromised from Teddie (sorry I'm glad you did) to Louisa you definitely get more of a say this time

Well, my boys name choice would be Jax or Lyndon. I also like Radley. My DH likes Theodore and Alexander. Would probably agree to Alexander as I can make some good nicknames out of that!

My first thought was dead dog. My second thought was Jacob Marley from A Christmas Carol.

Marlene with Marley as a NN? I know a beautiful Marlene, it's a fantastic name on her.

AllBellyandBoobs · 17/08/2021 19:22

It was the name of my beloved male, pain in the bum, cat. How about Marnie?

JessieOh · 17/08/2021 19:25

Would spellings it Marleigh make it a feminine name?
(Disclaimer: I'm rubbish on these things but I know of Marleigh rather than Marley.)

Mulletsaremisunderstood · 17/08/2021 19:27

What about spelling it Marlie or Marlee instead? Or even Marnie as a PP suggested.
I think it's nice, certainly no more ridiculous that some of the names people come up with these days.

romdowa · 17/08/2021 19:29

I know a girl called marlie and it suits her so much. Can't imagine her being called anything else. I also know a girl called presley . I live near a lot of music fans.

MamaNewtNewt · 17/08/2021 19:31

There's a girl in my DD's class (aged 7) called Marley and I don't think of it as a dog's name. That said I don't think it's anywhere near as pretty as the names of your first two DDs. What about Marlowe?

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 17/08/2021 19:33

Agree with the suggestion of Marnie instead. Lovely name but I can’t use it as it’s DDs’ cousin’s name.

Palavah · 17/08/2021 19:42

Marlee Matlin is an oscar-winning actress. That or Marlie would be nice, as would Marnie.
