Hypothetical really as we are still undecided on baby number 3.
But we still discuss names Grin
What does everyone think of Marley for a girl?
Siblings are Hannah Rosalie and Louise Lily.

Thankyou x

I like it slept Mali.

Marlayna is nice too, and you could use laney as a nn as well as Marley.

Livvielo · 17/08/2021 19:50

@AllBellyandBoobs

It was the name of my beloved male, pain in the bum, cat. How about Marnie?
Oooooh I like Marnie!! Thankyou

I like your DH's choices...

But how about Marcie?

Livvielo · 17/08/2021 19:52

@MamaNewtNewt

There's a girl in my DD's class (aged 7) called Marley and I don't think of it as a dog's name. That said I don't think it's anywhere near as pretty as the names of your first two DDs. What about Marlowe?
Haven’t heard of Marlowe. It’s nice thankyou.

Out of my DH’s name choices, I would go for Georgina, and then call her Georgie as a nickname

Sorry, drainpipes, guttering and tiles. Sad

MirandaBlu · 17/08/2021 20:08

I went to school with a (girl) Marley, it suited her perfectly. But with your other daughters' names I'd maybe go with something a little more classic with Marley as a nickname - Marlene, Marlena, Mariel(le), Mariella, Marisol?

Same for Marnie, which I also like - nothing wrong with it as a stand-alone name, but it can also be short for something more classic, like Marina, if you want.

ZoyaTheDestroyer · 17/08/2021 20:13

Marnie is lovely and fits well with your DDs.

Mali is Welsh and rhymes with ‘sally’ - not to be confused with the pronunciation of the country.

emmathedilemma · 17/08/2021 20:22

I know one (she’s about 5 or 6) and it really suits her so I don’t have the dog association any more BUT I do think that Hannah and Louisa are of a different genre and Marley doesn’t really go with them. Your husband has good taste ;)

SeasonFinale · 17/08/2021 20:24

I would definitely go with any of your husband's choices ....

sleepyhoglet · 17/08/2021 20:39

What about Marissa or Marcy

happydays2345 · 17/08/2021 20:48

Lovely name for a Labrador

CoffeeRunner · 17/08/2021 20:55

Why wouldn't you go with Theodore as a name if DH loves it & you love Teddy?

Marley is odd sorry. Very very different to Hannah & Louisa.

Your DH has better taste.

pinkcircustop · 17/08/2021 22:54

You seem to have some sort of obsession with wanting to give your girls boys names/nicknames.

Why?

Spondooliesforholibobs · 17/08/2021 23:05

I love your daughters names, really lovely.

I don’t like Marley at all, sorry.

I only like that name for a girl- Teddie

I also would associate it with Marley’s ghost clanking his chains in A Christmas Carol - or Bob Marley, or both! Sorry OP, I really don’t think it’s a great choice.

Of the other ones on the thread, Marnie is nice; what about Margot, Marigold or Marianne? A friend has a baby girl called Marianne Iris which I think is lovely.

An obsession? How? Grin I wanted to name my first daughter Rosalie… I loved Teddie for my second and did debate over Theodora for a little while. I do like Georgie as a shortened form of Georgina. But I wouldn’t go as far as that being an obsession with boys names when they can be and are, used for both. I’ve picked up some nice suggestions on this thread- I’ve said I liked Marcie and Marnie too Smile

I actually like Marigold, but I can’t get past the rubber glove association Grin

All your DH’s choices would go well with your other daughters - Georgina nn Georgie is lovely, and Florence goes well too. I also like Rosalie.

irresistibleoverwhelm · 18/08/2021 01:56

Haha yes Marigold is also a bit 1950s - as well as the rubber gloves my mum used to buy a bouillon powder called Marigold!

merrymelody · 18/08/2021 02:19

I know of a woman named Marlae. Pronounced Mar-lay.
