Pronounced Jon-kwil a name I’ve always liked and nature related bur is it too much?

It’s not an attractive sound for a name, boy or girl. Awful!

I knew one years ago, she was absolutely lovely. Unusual but certainly not made up.

Jonquils were my Mum's favourite flower. Not keen on it as a girl's name (definitely not for a boy) but I've heard worse.

40 years ago, my mum's friend was determined, all through pregnancy, that if she had a daughter she would be named Jonquil.

She ended up with a Jennifer.

The ‘Jon’ part makes it sound masculine to me. I don’t like it-sorry.

I'm not sure. I thinks it's one of those names that would get shortened by most people and you'd have a 50/50 chance of them not liking it as an adult.

Yep, boarding school stories and one is mentioned in a Gerald Durrell book. I'm not sure it would be top of my list, but it's nice enough.

I assumed it was for a boy, in which case it’s very wet, but somehow it’s too masculine for a girl.

It means daffodil, and it is a name and not made up, but I'm not sure any future Jonquil will thank you for it!
