Have a lovely 8 month old boy named eric.
Pregnant again hoping for a girl... BUT if its a boy i need an AWESOME name again. And every boy name is not sparking any joy besides ONE...

Pheonix

I KNOW..I KNOW.. Usually id be the FIRST one to be like "oh come on...you cant call a child that"

HOWEVER...Ive become enchanted with the name. Ive even tried considering felix and looking up ALL the names...
Ive even tried sleeping on it... for a MONTH.
And i cant find a name that gives me the same...feeling...as pheonix.

Does anyone have any POSITIVE thoughts on the name? Or advice?

Well you could try spelling correctly for a start
That would be pronounced fee oh nicks and I am assuming that’s not what you are after.
Other than that I’m saying nothing

Justmuddlingalong · 15/05/2021 21:45

It's a very different kind of name to Eric.

BeneficiaryMadness · 15/05/2021 21:46

Not with that spelling surely??

Spied · 15/05/2021 21:48

You're not spelling it like that are you?

partyatthepalace · 15/05/2021 21:49

Well, you need to spell it right, but that apart it’s not a great name to saddle a child with - people will probably make slightly dodgy assumptions about him as they would a girl named something like Crystal.

How about as a middle name?

NuffSaidSam · 15/05/2021 21:50

It's not the worst name I've heard.

But if you use it, do spell it correctly.

It's a very different vibe to Eric, which might raise eyebrows, but if you love it I think it's perfectly fine. There will be kids at school with more unusual names.

Lochroy · 15/05/2021 21:51

Hmmm. Was giving you the benefit of the doubt that you'd made a typo but then you spelt it that way again.

Honestly, it's not a great name anyway, and it certainly doesn't go with Eric. It's as if you have two children by two different fathers from completely different cultural backgrounds.

MishMashMummy · 15/05/2021 21:52

Even if you spell it right it’s a shocker.

minipeanut · 15/05/2021 21:53

I know one and I can't stand him!! The name sort of sets you up to be
A twat.

ThatIsMyPotato · 15/05/2021 21:53

Check the spelling. But bird names are getting popular so I don't think it will seem too "crazy"

Chunkymenrock · 15/05/2021 21:54

Not a chance. Especially spelt incorrectly.

user1493494961 · 15/05/2021 21:56

I'd go with something easier that you can spell.

MsMcGonagall · 15/05/2021 21:59

Eric and Felix would be fine

Phoenix I think you need to leave that one unused. I really LOVE the name Dmitri but I did not even consider lumbering DS with it. Not even as a middle name

EvilOnion · 15/05/2021 22:00

I know a female Phoenix.

It's not the worst or the craziest name I've heard by far but I do think it's a very odd sibling pairing.

We know a family with a plain name DC1 and then a bit of an "out there" #2. Always strikes me that they wanted their #2 to stand out whilst #1 just blends in.

CliftonGreenYork · 15/05/2021 22:00

Husband is a teacher and says when they get the list of new pupils joining the school, they can tell who will be trouble - Phoenix would def be on that list.

Standrewsschool · 15/05/2021 22:02

Mel C’s daughter is called Phoenix.

MsMcGonagall · 15/05/2021 22:02

What about Finn. Sort of has the same sound as the first syllable.

lovelylittlesunflower · 15/05/2021 22:06

I know a kid Phoenix, it's a beautiful name and really suits him.

ThatIsMyPotato · 15/05/2021 22:10

@CliftonGreenYork

Maybe they should try not to have preconceived perceptions in case they become a self-fufilling prophecy.
ThatIsMyPotato · 15/05/2021 22:12

@Standrewsschool

Mel C’s daughter is called Phoenix.
It's Mel B's I think. Unless they both have used the name.
ZednotZee · 15/05/2021 22:12

I think Phoenix and Eric sounds like a cool clothing brand.

I like it.

Saltyslug · 15/05/2021 22:14

Felix and Eric are very cool together

Aquamarine1029 · 15/05/2021 22:16

Husband is a teacher and says when they get the list of new pupils joining the school, they can tell who will be trouble

Yes, I'm so sure they can magically tell. Perhaps having preconceived notions about a child is the real problem.

AlfonsoTheTerrible · 15/05/2021 22:18

It's Mel B's I think. Unless they both have used the name.

You're correct: her daughter's name is Phoenix Chi. (I have no idea why I know that but I do.)

Misssweetheart · 15/05/2021 22:18

Yes its a major typo Sad haha sos guys.

Phoenix
