Wasn't there a 'Birdie' in Eastenders, her with the Christine husband? And the weird threads here about the boy's haunted badge? I wouldn't personally go down that road, but obviously it's your shout.

GreyStairs · 04/05/2021 21:34

Not Dove after watching “Gloriavale” and those poor women and children and one named “Love Dove” or “Dove Love”

GreyStairs · 04/05/2021 21:35

I like
Raven
Robin
Wren

EmphaticPeriod · 04/05/2021 21:36

Lark

Ihaventgottimeforthis · 04/05/2021 21:40

My DDs middle name is Wren.
Could curlew work?
Merlin?
Heron, amazing birds but just, no.

EdwinPootsLovesArchaeology · 04/05/2021 21:44

What about the Gaelic for heron!

inappropriateraspberry · 04/05/2021 21:46

I've always thought Linnet would be a nice name.

Cbeebiesrehab · 04/05/2021 21:47

All are useable except Heron. I actually really like unusual names and don’t flat out oppose many, but Heron seems a particularly bad choice. I have a strange dislike for the name Robin but I’m sure I’m in the minority.

Schrutesbeets · 04/05/2021 21:48

Have you considered Thrush, or Tit?

DorisLessingsCat · 04/05/2021 21:49

Long Tailed Tit?

Lipsandlashes · 04/05/2021 21:51

I like Robin or Wren. I had a friend with a sister called Linnet. I always thought that was really pretty.

Aozora13 · 04/05/2021 21:53

I’ve seen too many skanky urban herons to really appreciate them now I’m afraid.

But I like Robin, Wren, Lark, Raven and Linnet. Maybe Starling? Not sure I could shout that across the park and not feel like a twat though...

wanderedlonelyasacloud · 04/05/2021 21:55

Lark is my guilty pleasure name but I do think you'd have to be brave to use it!

Other than that I love Birdie, Robin, and Wren

Christmasbird · 04/05/2021 21:55

Aderyn (pronounced ah-derrin) is bird in welsh

Figgygal · 04/05/2021 21:56

You cannot call a child Heron Shock

GerundTheBehemoth · 04/05/2021 22:00

There are some fun bird names if you go beyond the UK. Oropendola. Sittella. Iora. Rosella. Pardalote. Sunangel. Cotinga. Etc!

MrsCrosbyNRTB · 04/05/2021 22:00

Jay
Kiwi
Blue Footed Booby?

DacwMamYnDwad · 04/05/2021 22:33

But it isn't a name. I think it is listed on a name site, as is Deryn.

It's not suitable as a name as it gets used to describe someone unreliable or flighty.

Llinos and Gwylan are acceptable as girl's names.

DacwMamYnDwad · 04/05/2021 22:33

and Gwennol.

PassMeTheWotsits · 04/05/2021 22:38

Grebe

Hopeishere52 · 04/05/2021 22:38

Wren is lovely

FindingMeno · 04/05/2021 22:40

Birdie or Lark.
Sparrow is lovely too.

Scarby9 · 04/05/2021 22:43

Lark
Robin
Wren
In that order.

I know a couple of Robins and a couple of Ravens. Raven always seems too dark and brooding to me.

Tillygetsit · 04/05/2021 22:46

I like Linnet and Rosella as suggested by pps.

Nellle · 04/05/2021 23:00

I know a girl called Finch, which I think is quite pretty.
