I really like for a girl:

Heron
Lark
Wren
Birdie
Robin
Dove

Which do you prefer?

Wasn't there a 'Birdie' in Eastenders, her with the Christine husband? And the weird threads here about the boy's haunted badge? I wouldn't personally go down that road, but obviously it's your shout.

Not Dove after watching “Gloriavale” and those poor women and children and one named “Love Dove” or “Dove Love”

I've always thought Linnet would be a nice name.

All are useable except Heron. I actually really like unusual names and don’t flat out oppose many, but Heron seems a particularly bad choice. I have a strange dislike for the name Robin but I’m sure I’m in the minority.

Have you considered Thrush, or Tit?

I like Robin or Wren. I had a friend with a sister called Linnet. I always thought that was really pretty.

I’ve seen too many skanky urban herons to really appreciate them now I’m afraid.

But I like Robin, Wren, Lark, Raven and Linnet. Maybe Starling? Not sure I could shout that across the park and not feel like a twat though...

Lark is my guilty pleasure name but I do think you'd have to be brave to use it!

Other than that I love Birdie, Robin, and Wren

You cannot call a child Heron

There are some fun bird names if you go beyond the UK. Oropendola. Sittella. Iora. Rosella. Pardalote. Sunangel. Cotinga. Etc!

It's not suitable as a name as it gets used to describe someone unreliable or flighty.

Llinos and Gwylan are acceptable as girl's names.

I know a couple of Robins and a couple of Ravens. Raven always seems too dark and brooding to me.

I like Linnet and Rosella as suggested by pps.

I know a girl called Finch, which I think is quite pretty.
