What names do you like but you have only ever met one of before?

My sister is pregnant for the first time at 43 and wants an unusual but real name and wants some inspiration.

I named my own after only once ever hearing someone called the name.

@Girliefriendlikespuppies I met an Aurelie once too it's so pretty butshe hated it and said she was always bullied for it in tbis country- she's South African. Shame cos it's a beautiful name.

Guy- I absolutely love this name and have it on my list but don't know if I'm brave enough to use it

Ralph- also on my baby list I love it

What’s contentious about Guy?

Hmm I'm all for unusual names, even if not to my taste, but there's a line that needs to be drawn and it falls way before Abcde and Fffst lol.

@mynameisbrian wait... do you mean they were spelling it Louis (which is usually pronounced loo-ee) and asking you to pronounce it as Lois (Low-iss like Lois Lane)? That poor child must have had a lot of confusion!

cptartapp · 09/05/2021 10:52

I know a Rusty. Proper name on the bc.

ArmoireArmy · 09/05/2021 11:06

Biba, I checked and only 114 have been born since 1996. There’s been some clangers of names here in this thread and can someone tell me if this name is bad or not? I can’t gauge. It suited the girl who’s name it was, everything about her was striking, beautiful, green eyes, pale olive skin and the longest and darkest eyelashes I’ve ever seen with the longest (reddish brunette, think Kate Middleton but better) hair I’ve ever seen. I’m afraid my judgement of this name has been biased because of this girl, what do you all think?Hmm

I think it's a nice name but it's pronounced like beeber isnt it? So people might think you're a justin bieber fan Grin

There’s no r in Biba. It’s not remotely similar to Bie-ber for the vast majority of the world. Only people who don’t pronounce r and pronounce it as a.
