Don’t think we’ll use it for this baby but just brainstorming? What do you think of Dove?

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
RaindropsSplashRainbows · 14/03/2021 13:23

Too peaceful sounding / wet. Too short for my taste too.
I prefer Paloma.

TheCraicDealer · 14/03/2021 13:23

Nah, not for me. I'm thinking of Paloma as a middle name though if I have a girl, which means Dove.

Markies · 14/03/2021 13:25

Silver yesterday, Dove today. Utterly ridiculous.

EmbarrassingMama · 14/03/2021 13:26

Soap. Nope.

3CCC · 14/03/2021 13:26

If it wasn't for the soap/ toiletries brand I'd quite like it. But I'm afraid it's a back to the drawing board from me

partyatthepalace · 14/03/2021 13:29

Soap!

It’s a real personality-infliction - what if you daughter is more a fire cracker than a peace lover? It’s also not a name / is a bit try hard.

Paloma means dove, and I think Jemima does too. Both nice.

BiBabbles · 14/03/2021 13:32

I think's nice, probably one of the better bird or animal names.

I've also read Dovey as already mentioned and Dovie as a name and possibly as a nickname for Dove or Deborah, referenced in some older works about women from a century or so ago.

Bazinga007 · 14/03/2021 13:53

Makes me think of soap or pills.

viques · 14/03/2021 14:36

Lark Robin or Wren if you want a bird name . If ever you go to the Corams Fields Foundling Museum they have a display of the names they used for the foundlings , and quite a lot of them are bird names.

PeigiSu · 14/03/2021 14:40

Callum and names of that family (Colm, Colum etc) mean dove if you are looking for the meaning.

BreakfastOfWaffles · 14/03/2021 14:48

I think it's fine for a middle name but not as a first name.

CryptoFascist · 14/03/2021 14:49

I like it

Twinkie01 · 14/03/2021 14:50

Makes me think of their fucking annoying adverts.

Soubriquet · 14/03/2021 14:52

Even Dove Cameron is not originally named Dove

Her birth name is Chloe Celeste Hosterman

BlusteryLake · 14/03/2021 15:09

Avoid if your surname is Grey!

Lockdownbear · 14/03/2021 17:23

What about Peace or Hope if you are looking for something symbolic?

35andThriving · 14/03/2021 17:35

There's a Dove on the children's tv show Gym Stars. I think it's a hard name tonpull off.

RedGoldAndGreene · 14/03/2021 18:15

I reckon it will get mistaken for Dave, especially if used for a boy.

Modestandatinybitsexy · 14/03/2021 18:32

I didn't know Paloma meant dove and it's such a lovely name. Much prefer it to Dove which just reminds me of deodorant. Sorry.

VenusClapTrap · 14/03/2021 20:41

I quite like it. I’m fond of bird names though. I really like Linnet, Lark and Wren.

KirstenBlest · 15/03/2021 13:37

My first thought was Pigeon

luciles · 15/03/2021 14:12

@custardbear

Forever called Div at school ... no
This is the most stupid thing I've ever heard
HummusAndCarrotSticks · 15/03/2021 14:18

Not keen. But I love Paloma! Which means dove I think.

thenonsensepotter · 15/03/2021 14:20

How many children do you know called Dove who were nicknamed Div?
BigWoollyJumpers · 15/03/2021 14:22

"Where is it" - But then I speak Italian.
