What do you think of Misty for a little girl?

It's a cat/dog/porn star name.

Definitely a porn star name

I can’t imagine an adult Misty. Sorry.

Stripper name is the first thing that comes to mind.. sorry

It's a lovely name but no matter how much I loved it I would not be saddling an actual human person with it unless I was changing my own name by deed poll. Be as 'out there ' and 'out of the box' to quote a PP for yourself . However have a thought for the person who has to carry your whimsy with them for the rest of their lives.

By all means go fo Mischa , Michelle /Mishelle.. and use Misty as a NN that she can keep or drop as she gets older - but that would be her choice.

Yep. Pornstar stripper name.

Love it. Reminds me off the song “I’m too misty, and too much in love.” Gorgeous and would be seriously impressed to meet a baby Misty.

As for the “not a grown up name” brigade... When I was a young woman people would say that about very mainstream names like Sophie and Chloe (“can you REALLY imagine a Dr Sophie or a judge called Chloe?”). Misty won’t be out of place amidst the Lunas, Lolas, Graysons and Roccos of the world.

I like it, better than all the Amelia's, Grace's and Evie's out there.
It's pretty and not too out there.
Forget people saying it's a stripper name.

I wouldn't say it's a good thing to that Misty will be lumped with Rocco and Lola!

You and your daughter will be judged if you pick this name, as this thread has proved. It's up to you whether that bothers you or whether you think it will bother your daughter though.

I love it.

But my DC also has a dog's name according to MN 😂

But have you seen the film Play Misty for Me?

Bouledeneige · 23/02/2021 15:54

I like it.
Maybe more as a nickname, though not sure what for.

My hamster was called Misty. Nice for a pet, not for a child!

All I can think of the movie line, play Misty for me 😂

Good film actually.

I prefer it to a lot of girl names that are popular. Having a dc with an unusual name makes for a very undividual dc ime

Beautiful name for a dog

RusholmeRuffian · 23/02/2021 16:21

Stripper name for me, sorry

LivingDeadGirlUK · 23/02/2021 16:21

I'm not too keen, I think because its a description rather than a name. Would make a cute nickname though, could you pick something like Melissa/Misha and then have it for a nickname?

I actually think it’s lovely. And genuinely fresh.

And god, people are really obsessed with strippers on here, aren’t they?!

Report
Marcipex · 23/02/2021 16:25

Dog or pony name.

My dd6 is Misty.

Beautiful name and actually not that unusual in the US.

My other daughter's name was on this board last week getting slated too but oh well I like them!!

It doesn't conjure up the nicest of images...makes me think of something damp and clammy - the something is mist!

So, it would be a no from me, sorry.
