What do you think of Misty for a little girl?

Love Misty!
Not sure if anyone has commented this already but on AHS (coven) there was a witch called Misty - she was very hippy and earthy. Loved the name since

I really like it, but it does feel like a bit of a guilty pleasure somehow. I’d quite like to be named Misty, but perhaps I wouldn’t if I were shy.

I like it!

Reminds me of Misty from Pokemon

Misty sounds more like a cute nn to me - maybe for Marisa, Melissa or even Artemis?

I think of Play Misty for Me, but it's quite a pretty name, Much better than Stormi.

I think just don’t give it as a full name, cos she may not thank you. It’s a bit pony, a bit pornstar and a bit downmarket twee.

I used to teach a Misty. The name suited her then and she wears it well as a young adult. Her sibling had a similar style name. In a multicultural school in London, there are lots of names that may feel strange to adults who grew up in a class of multiple Sarahs, Claires, Joannes and Helens so neither sibling's name stuck out.

I actually think it's beautiful! It's a beautiful word and could be a beautiful name. It is unusual so she'll have to live with that but not necessarily a bad thing!

You could maybe use Misty but have a full name that it's short for just in case.

I could see a sibling set called Misty and Storm 😍

I love Misty! I would probably put it with something a little more classic as a middle name personally but I think it’s gorgeous. I also feel she would fit in fine with poppy, daisy, indie etc in her generation so I disagree that it would sound silly or only fit a little girl. It’s easy to pronounce and spell and she won’t be one of hundreds x

Can you honestly imagine a grown woman, a professional eg. a doctor, a politician or an architect called Misty?! If you have an urge to attach this name to something get a rabbit.

Misty Blue by Dorothy Moore is a great song.

I went to school in the US and know a few. It's not to my taste but I wouldn't think anything negative.

Very cute in theory. But I look around the middle aged women I know, myself included, and not sure any of us could carry it off. Lovely if you are beautiful, lithe and a bit hippy. Not so fitting on a slightly dumpy 40 something with 3 kids and a part time job in office admin...

Sorry agree with the porn and stripper comments
It’s no name for an adult

My inner 13 year old loves it. I wouldn't use it because on a Venn diagram it lands in the intersection of hillbilly, crystal meth addict (also you can bet Misty has a sister called Crystal) and convicted shoplifter.

But I still like it!

I think Misty is quite a pretty name and naming her after the first prominent black ballerina would be nice (I think she's the first really famous black ballerina, but correct me if I'm wrong).

However, a few years ago I met a grown up Misty. She was doing a PhD in Engineering. I literally did a double-take. Her name just seemed so incongruous with her profession.

Could you give her a longer name like Melissa or Marissa, with Misty as a nickname? Then if she needs a name with a bit more gravitas (like submitting a science paper to a peer-reviewed publication) she can use that as her fallback name. If she goes into a more creative industry, she can use Misty.

Seriously why not? These are just stupid prejudices.

I always find it so odd on the comments when people say things like 'Wow, how will he/she ever get a job with a name like that' 🙄

I've said it on many threads, me and my sibling have very unusual names, far stranger than Misty, and we've been absolutely fine. Usually get lovely comments on them and occasionally small minded ones. Never bullied at school or teased on them. Never wanted to change them. And weren't raised in a big city either as I've seen some comments saying things like they'll only be able to manage in a posh school or somewhere like London. 😂

Someone said something about siblings called Misty and Storm, I've met a Storm before in my professional line of work and she was so gorgeous and very fiery. Definitely suited the name.

Seriously why not? These are just stupid prejudices.

Well, perhaps when deciding between two equally qualified people, the interviewer may take the person with the more traditional name more seriously. Probably even subconsciously.

Why do you deliberately want to make things more difficult for your child than you need to? Celebrities can call their kids anything because they know they have the money and connections to make things easier for their children regardless.

The rest of us have to take these things into consideration. We live in the real world, not an ideal world.

I think this says more about you.
I work with people with different and unusual names. And see poster below for some (albeit anecdotal evidence)
