Boy names to go with Matilda

PurpleFlower1983 · 18/02/2021 09:42

We have DD2 Matilda, we shorten to Tilda. Just found out DC2 is a boy and not sure about names! I had a girl’s name sorted 🙄😂.

None of those are a final list or anything and we’re open to all suggestions but so far we have:

Dexter
Flynn
Gabriel
Sebastian
Barney

I like classic names too but the problem is I’m a teacher and find it hard having any association with a child I have taught - I’d never taught a Matilda when DD was born and still haven’t.

What was your girl name out of interest? Might help with suggestions

Great list, I love Barney

We have similar taste OP. Flynn and Sebastian are in my top three for our boy due soon. Other names we shortlisted were;

Kit
Rudy
Chester
Miles

Out of that list i like Sebastian and dexter. Benjamin has a similar feel and is nice too but as a teacher I'd say you've heard that one alot. How about riley?

Matilda and Rick

I love your list, and would use them all myself, possibly apart from Gabriel.
I also like:
Tobias
Gideon
Nathaniel
Elliot
Dominic

Tilda and Barney

PurpleFlower1983 · 18/02/2021 10:44

I love Barney too but I’m slightly concerned how Barney will translate as a teenager or adult. I really like it though!

Barney is so cute but I would worry about it being taken seriously as a name in adulthood too.
Of your choices I love Flynn.
What about Jude?

I like Jude, it may go on the list!

Gabriel and Sebastian are lovely - quirky classics well used internationally just like Matilda. Your other choices seem a bit trendy in comparison imo, sorry.

I like pp suggestion of Tobias or Nathaniel. Maximilian (Max)?, Marcus? ( I think it would be lovely to have 2 "M" names of different sexes), Lucas? Louis? Elias? Henry? Nicholas (Nico/Cole)? Laurence (Laurie)? Benedict (Ben/Ned)?

cautiouscovidity · 18/02/2021 12:47

Charlie
William
Henry
Elliot
Samuel

Of your list I think Sebastian and Gabriel go best. Tilda and Gabe - sweet! I think Dexter goes with Tilda but not Matilda. I like Barnaby but not Barney... but if you do, you could use Barnaby as longer form and shorten. Matilda and Barnaby sounds fab.

itsgettingwierd · 18/02/2021 12:54

I like Sebastian from your list the most.

Matilda also on my list and I have a boy (Thomas) which I would have use with Matilda if I'd has more!

If you were using Audrey how about something like Arther or Archie or Alfie?

I also like

Leo
Dominic
Elliot

To go with Matilda.

Casper

Jasper would go nicely.

I like Benjamin but it seems like a name you'd run into a lot as a teacher.

UserEleventyNine · 18/02/2021 14:45

Stephen.

I have a Matilda. Her brothers are Oliver and Rory.

IggyAce · 18/02/2021 15:18

I like Sebastian from your list, but given the ones I know are just starting school you may find yourself teaching one soon.
My Suggestions:
Nathaniel
David
Aubrey
Andrew
Montgomery.
The Matilda I know has a sibling called Max.

SaltyTootsieToes · 18/02/2021 15:28

Well, any name really. Just avoid Matthew (Matt)

Iamthewombat · 18/02/2021 15:30

Basmati

William the Bastard

Stephen, count of Blois

Before opening the thread I was going to suggest Barnaby

The Matilda I know who has a brother, her brother is called Dougie. I've always thought Douglas was a nice name
