Boy names to go with Matilda

We have DD2 Matilda, we shorten to Tilda. Just found out DC2 is a boy and not sure about names! I had a girl’s name sorted 🙄😂.

None of those are a final list or anything and we’re open to all suggestions but so far we have:

Dexter
Flynn
Gabriel
Sebastian
Barney

I like classic names too but the problem is I’m a teacher and find it hard having any association with a child I have taught - I’d never taught a Matilda when DD was born and still haven’t.

@TatianaBis

Love Gabriel and Sebastian.

Like Flynn but it's very popular.

DH loves Flynn but I’m wondering if it will become really popular. It’s not where we are at all at the moment but I can imagine it becoming so.

  • I really like Barney, though I would give a full name - Barnaby or Barnabas, and use Barney as the nn. It's classic but not very common right now. Absolutely no issue with it for grownups - the two I know are in their late 20s/early 40s and v successful, dynamic, etc
  • Gabriel and Sebastian are great classics - but G already popular and S getting so.
  • Flynn - nothing wrong with it's very of the moment and blurs with the endless Finn and Finlays so I would personally avoid.
  • Dexter - I just think it sounds downmarket and made up so I wouldn't.

Other thoughts - Francis, Josiah, Alistair, Tobias, John, Robert nn Robin, Rufus. I like PP suggestions of Jude, Nathaniel, Lucas and Dominic.

I love Dexter from your list but I'm a bias because it's our boys name
