Due a baby girl in 4 weeks and we have narrowed it down to 2 first names and two middle names. The middle names are both family names.

Which do you prefer? Which first name goes best with which middle name?

First names:

Darcy
Aeryn

Middle names:
Eleanor
Jean

I agree Eleanor doesn't go with Aeryn.

For me it's probably Darcy Jean or Aeryn Jean.

What are people's favourite out of those?

Aeryn Jean is lovely!

Lemonsyellow · 13/02/2021 22:42

Your middle names are so much nicer than the first names.

Firebird83 · 14/02/2021 00:13

Aeryn Jean. Darcy is downmarket.

DarcyJack · 14/02/2021 00:17

Darcy Jean - after me!

AntiHop · 14/02/2021 00:21

Darcy will date badly I think. I'm not a fan of surnames as first names.

Aquamarine1029 · 14/02/2021 00:22

Aeryn 100%

Smallonesaremorejuicy · 14/02/2021 00:47

I would change the spelling to Erin & have Jean as middle name , beautiful.

Ellada19 · 14/02/2021 01:13

Darcy Jean would be my pick.

Darcy Eleanor is nice too but I love the name Jean, I’m so excited to see someone considering it because I feel it’s a bit of a forgotten name.

Ellada19 · 14/02/2021 01:15

It’s not just a surname. It was used for both girls fairly and boys fairly commonly in the 70’s- 80’s.

DramaAlpaca · 14/02/2021 01:16

Aeryn Jean is nice, very elegant and classy.

Darcy is the opposite, not classy at all (sorry)

Kanaloa · 14/02/2021 01:24

Darcy Jean or Darcy Eleanor is really pretty, I don’t see it as downmarket at all. I don’t like Aeryn but really love Erin. I just think Aeryn is a bit awkward looking.

Timpeall · 14/02/2021 04:32

Is Aeryn your own spelling? I just see Aryan, which isn't the best really.

RichPetunia · 14/02/2021 07:08

I’d go for Aeryn Eleanor, but you know nobody’s going to pronounce the first name properly? You are always going to be saying ‘it’s the same as letting some AIR IN the room’ etc. It is lovely though, but maybe use Erin instead?

pilates · 14/02/2021 07:25

Darcy Jean
Because I don’t like your spelling of Erin

GoryGilmore · 14/02/2021 07:27

Not Aeryn - I know a little girl with this name (different spelling though) and she constantly has people mishearing and misspelling her name. If you love it, save her a lifetime of name related hassle and just call her Erin.

RainingBatsAndFrogs · 14/02/2021 08:21

I looked Aeryn up as I assumed it was a Welsh name that I was not familiar with.

It seems it is an American spelling of the original Gaelic Érin and means Ireland.

So personally I would avoid Aeryn as I prefer the classic or authentic form of names. (But no judgement on people who have different preferences).

Darcy Jean sounds the best of all combinations, quite cool, but Jean isn’t my favourite name.

BallsToYouSue · 14/02/2021 08:59

I like Erin, but think unusual spellings can be a pain in the bum for the person who actually has to have the name their whole life, or until they can change it.

So, I'd go Darcy Jean. Perfectly fine name.

samandpoppysmummy · 14/02/2021 09:16

Darcy Jean. But I much prefer Darcey with a 'e', like Darcey Bussell.

MindyStClaire · 14/02/2021 09:16

Yes I had also wondered if Aeryn was Welsh. If it's just a different spelling of Erin then I don't like it, too Game of Thrones.

Fireflies33 · 14/02/2021 09:31

I like Aeryn but neither of the middle names go with it. I don’t like Darcy or Jean.
Aeryn Daisy
Aeryn Matilda
Aeryn Rae
Aeryn Willow
Aeryn Elizabeth

Chilldonaldchill · 14/02/2021 09:35

Aeryn is nicer imo. I'm not a big Darcy fan.
Aeryn Eleanor is a little bit of a mouthful but I think it's the best combination. And the more I say it the less tongue-twisterish it sounds.

itssquidstella · 14/02/2021 09:36

I like Darcy Jean

jumpyturtles · 14/02/2021 09:38

Darcy Jean

user1493494961 · 14/02/2021 09:46

Eleanor is beautiful but if it's only a middle name choice, I would choose Erin, with the traditional spelling. The Aeryn spelling reminds me of Aertex, the clothing company.
