Molly
Milly
Poppy
Daisy

Etc

Onceuponatimethen · 17/01/2021 00:25

Also all hyphenated names Ellie-Mae etc

BettyAndVeronica · 17/01/2021 00:29

None really.

I know some family's who I perceive as rather 'twee' but it's not down to their names.

And some towns that are 'twee', again nothing to do with names.

TheOneLeggedJockey · 17/01/2021 00:30

Katie and Susie immediately spring to mind.

And then misspelt names like Charlee. DD is at school with a Charlee-May, which is quite a double whammy, twee-wise, for the poor girl.

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 17/01/2021 09:19

Generally anything too cutesy that sounds like it would be better on a pet bunny than a human being,

Betsy
Dolly
Poppy
Missy
Etc

BatleyTownswomensGuild · 17/01/2021 09:21

@Onceuponatimethen

Also all hyphenated names Ellie-Mae etc

Yep, these too - Georgie-Mae, Rosie-Mae, etc

MimiDaisy11 · 17/01/2021 11:58

I think double-barrel names with names like Daisy can sound too cutesy for me

booboomoo · 17/01/2021 12:02

O god both my kids names are on here Blush

Orphlids · 17/01/2021 12:16

When I was in hospital having my baby, there was a woman who’d named her baby boy Bertie-Ray. That was so twee, it made me feel slightly sick.

Empressofthemundane · 17/01/2021 14:02

Some of these names sound twee to me. Others sound like Appalachian Hill Billies from the first half of the 20th century!
Ellie-Mae....as in Ellie May Clampet from the Beverley Hill Billies!
Same for Opal, Pearl and Ruby. Ruby, like the Kenny Rogers song. Minnie-Pearl from the Grand Ole Opry and Hee Haw.

MBb217 · 17/01/2021 14:28

I asked this question because all my names I like kept getting called twee so it turns out that’s the type of names I like and I need ideas lol

Poppy. Yikes. That is one silly sounding name.

Most names ending in y/ie as mentioned. Mary and Felicity sound alright, though, somehow.

There's nothing wrong with a twee name.

Mine is on lots of these lists here, and i don't think it's done me any harm!

Februaryisnear · 17/01/2021 15:58

Both my children’s names are on the list, I do not see them as twee or cutesy as they’re named after the oldest people I know!

Pick a name you love, everyone will have an opinion and mumsnet seem to dislike lots of names that are very well liked in real life

colourmylife · 18/01/2021 20:14

Any name whatsoever if it’s paired with one of these middle names; May, Rose, Lily or Grace.

CharlieBoo · 18/01/2021 21:52

NeonSparkle
Anything double barrelled - especially with may,
Maisie,
Posey,
Primrose,
Clementine,
Otillie,
Arabella,
Annabelle,
Beatrice,
Florence.
I just imagined someone calling their daughter Maisie-May and cringed so hard my soul left my body.

Then i realized it probably has happened at some point.

Look, it really doesn’t matter!

I admit - there are some names on here that I would be sooo annoyed with my parents if they have the name to me, and would no doubt end up using my middle name. Grin

But ultimately - people become more than their name, and if the person is not twee, that’s the main thing.

Mollymalone123 · 18/01/2021 23:21

All of the them sound like dogs names to me. But then I suppose I’m boring and our children were straightforward Christian names and not ‘trendy’ or fashionable but just traditional. Which thankfully now they are adults suits them.
