Ziggy

I am expecting lots of no's but we really like it. Have another son called Bodhi.

@sammylilac - he’s not here yet, next month! We are sticking with Ziggy. Have been met with mixed opinions from family & friends but in all honesty we don’t care, we think it’s fab

I know a Ziggy! He is just Ziggy on its own. I like it.

@abitfunny I think everyone's gets used to the name and it becomes them? Even if they don't like it, I know a little girl called tulip and everyone turned there nose up! But now it suits her so much!

Thank you both! I have tried to like other names especially when we have outside influences saying ‘don’t do that to him’ but we’ve stuck with it, plus our three year old is insistent that his baby brothers name is Ziggy!

I like it. My DS has the Ignatius/Iggy thing as a middle name. I’m a massive Stooges and Bowie fan.

I had a younger family member who was like this re my ds's unusual name. Honestly, just roll your eyes (inwardly if possible) and ignore.

My son is a Ziggy (not his real name but my grandma got mixed up when I had him and kept calling him Ziggy and it stuck). I reccomend it! He loves his name, it's easy to write and he has no excuse for thinking it's not me calling his name in a playground.

Also, he has a common/traditional name as a middle name (think John) though in case he decides to become a lawyer or something or just hates his name as he gets older.

I don't think the name would put off a future employer I think it would make him stand out! Also he will be growing up in a world of unusual names!!!! I put a post on about my list of names and they aren't even that unsual and people were going oh my god no don't do that to a child! 😂 id rather they stood out wirh a name then be one of a million in their school year!

There's a Ziggy at my school, I don't think it's great for him in the playground etc, children just want to fit in and I say that working in a school with a fair share of unusual names!

If you think of David (Ziggy) Bowie's son Zowie Bowie - he clearly decided for himself what he wanted to be called when he grew up .

Now known as Duncan Jones - couldn't be more ordinary if he tried!

People are free to change how they are known, should they wish it.

I think it’s sweet, and he will definitely be a cool dude with that name!
