Earthy girls names

My friend wants a strong earthy girls name inspired either by the sea, forrest, or mountains. She loves the names Bear, Wolfie, Forrest, Rocky, and Caspien for a boy, but the baby is a girl.

For a girl she is considering Sequioa after the trees, or Gaia after Mother Nature, but she says she much prefers her boys names. She wants a name that is unusual and will be the only child with this name in their class so wants to avoid flower names, and more classic earthy names such as Willow, Fern, etc. She knows a baby River. Any ideas?

Most of those welsh name pronunciations are not quite right, and some of them are nouns.

I was going to suggest Eartha and Sierra, but Heather, Laurel etc are quite nice.

Paloma is my favourite of this style of name, but of course it isn't unique, how about Tundra or Cascade (French for waterfall) or Phaedra?

Erica (Latin for Heather)

I am very outdoorsy, and DD’s name is Hope, after the Hope Valley in the Peak District.

@Jessbow
Cavan is a county in Ireland
The Shannon river is the longest river in Ireland.

Cavan people get slagged for being tight with money. Smile
My experience is different having witnessed generosity from Cavan friends and enjoying great hospitality at their wedding.

I know a lady called Silven ( not sure of spelling) which apparently means " of the forest" which is rather lovely

missmouse101 · 25/10/2020 16:52

But OP, aren't they for your friend? Wink Doesn't matter if you like them does it?

Bubbletrouble43 · 25/10/2020 16:53

Just looked it up, its Sylvan, like sylvanian families I guess, doh!

Bubbletrouble43 · 25/10/2020 16:55

Apparently it's a boy name and there's no record of any female sylvans being born ever according to Google though I definitely know one who is about 25. I'm baffled.
