I'm in favour of Etta, DH likes Elodie. Opinions please

I love them both but unfortunately I drop my T's so Etta would be Eh-ah so for that reason I would go with Elodie.
You probably speak properly though, lovely choices.

MondeoFan · 17/10/2020 20:58

Both are nice - doesn't help much I know

Vello · 17/10/2020 20:58

Elodie

LadyEloise · 17/10/2020 20:59

Elodie

or

Eloise

Candycats · 17/10/2020 21:01

Both lovely names but I'm biased as we have an Elodie in the family so that's my favourite of the two

Thirtyrock39 · 17/10/2020 21:01

Elodie is my name that I didn't get to use from my names list so I would say go for that one

ToffeeAppleCaramel · 17/10/2020 21:02

I love Elodie and wanted it on our list but couldn’t convince DH. So I’d go for that BUT I like Etta too and I think it’s probably more classic and elegant.

NoMoreFlowers · 17/10/2020 21:05

I love Etta. Not keen on Elodie at all

Crazyone84 · 17/10/2020 21:05

I found Etta from Etta James who I love but then looking into it, seems its an old English name. Elodie is French origin and we have no connection there. Do people still chose names depending on the place of origin?

I never comment on name threads but I love Etta! If I'd thought if it, it'd have been a contender for my dd.

DaftAda · 17/10/2020 21:07

Would Etholle, pronounced Etolie, be an acceptable compromise?

WinWinnieTheWay · 17/10/2020 21:07

Elke?

Lofu · 17/10/2020 21:17

I love Elodie but I think it sounds better in some accents and not so great in others. It sounds amazing in Welsh.

I adore Etta, it's on my list for bump but DH isn't convinced.

HollyBen · 17/10/2020 21:19

Elodie. Not keen on Etta

ulanbatorismynextstop · 17/10/2020 21:19

Etta! Beautiful...

missmouse101 · 17/10/2020 21:23

Etta. Elodie is just the letters L O D.

MikeUniformMike · 17/10/2020 21:35

I don't get the love for Elodie - it's yet another nothingy El name.
Etta is quite punchy in comparison. Check how it sounds with the surname though (Etta Lamb ...)

peachgreen · 17/10/2020 21:36

Etta! Elodie is a bit overdone imo.

FizzyGreenWater · 17/10/2020 21:39

Elodie is like someone saying L. O. D!

It’s very mimsy compared to Etta. However if you drop your Ts... !

Lockdownfatigue · 17/10/2020 21:41

Elodie is beautiful. Etta is meh, doesn’t sound like a real name and a big middle aged.

RandomMess · 17/10/2020 21:47

I love Etta is was a nickname for my friend called Henrietta (which she hated).

garlictwist · 17/10/2020 21:48

Elodie is a name for a middle aged woman. I'd go Etta.

olderthanyouthink · 17/10/2020 21:50

I really like Etta.

I also like Elodie but not sure if I could use it as a friend has with their child.

I like Eloise too (loved the movies as a child and can't wait to share the books with DD)

StayClosePooky · 17/10/2020 21:51

Etta

villamariavintrapp · 17/10/2020 21:51

I don't like Etta because of the terrorist connotations, and it doesn't sound like a full name to me. So elodie.
