I'm in favour of Etta, DH likes Elodie. Opinions please

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?

Elodie is gorgeous, beautiful name.

Etta is the opposite, ugly and harsh. Sorry, I know you like it, OP.

THATbasicWITCH · 17/10/2020 21:55

Etta

SilenceOfTheEmu · 17/10/2020 21:56

Love Etta, Hate Elodie

Nutmegpapaya · 17/10/2020 21:56

Etta / Ettie

Pinnacular · 17/10/2020 22:02

Love Etta, and very much like Elodie. Etta sounds more timeless and sophisticated to me.

Britannah · 17/10/2020 22:06

Elodie gets my vote xx

daisypond · 17/10/2020 22:09

I don’t like either. It’s a matter of which is least worst.
Elodie is another Amelie-type name.
Etta feels like a half-name. It has some energy about it, which is a plus point.

sabrinaq · 17/10/2020 22:12

Love Etta not Elodie

Garcellesaidwhaaat · 17/10/2020 22:18

I like them both and find most El names attractive Elodie, Eloise, Elowen, Eliza, Eleanor, Elizabeth, Elaine. None are overly frilly or fancy. With that said there are currently 6 El names in the top 100 and around 15 names beginning with E altogether.

Etta is really sweet.

Lottie, Charlotte, Scarlett and Harriet are also top 100 atm.
Loretta? Annette, Jeanette. Betsy?

TokenGinger · 17/10/2020 22:22

Etta is lovely

Oneandabean · 17/10/2020 22:49

Etta definitely, was on our list but with our surname I was worried it might sound like ate a...
I love it though. Not a fan of elodie sounds like ploddy and is just a bit drab

KoalaRabbit · 17/10/2020 22:50

I don't like Etta, maybe as it makes me think of ETA, the terrorist group. Sounds very harsh.

I like Elodie, makes me think of melody.

Tillygetsit · 17/10/2020 22:51

Etta is much stronger I think. Good name.

AnnaSW1 · 17/10/2020 22:56

Etta by a long way

rachelphoebemonica · 17/10/2020 22:57

Elodie or Eloise

Kanaloa · 17/10/2020 23:22

Elodie is lovely. Etta doesn’t sound nice in my accent so I’m not fond of it personally.

forestsmurf · 17/10/2020 23:26

I love Elodie but my DH said no 🙄 that is a clear favourite from me

Eloise. It’s not a name I would use myself by I prefer by far to Etta.

SemperIdem · 18/10/2020 01:46

*Elodie

Autocorrect thinks you should opt for Eloise apparently

MercyBodle · 18/10/2020 02:50

Elodie

BellsofStClems · 18/10/2020 03:47

I love the idea of Etta, but I prefer Elodie.

Peachbubble · 18/10/2020 07:37

Definitely Elodie. Don't like the sound of Etta.

MsTSwift · 18/10/2020 07:40

Etta. Eloidie is a terrible name. She’ll end up yet another Ella

Lockdownfatigue · 18/10/2020 07:44

Why would Elodie end up Ella? I’ve never known Ella be short for anything? Ellie perhaps but it’s not inevitable
