Brazil?

Thoughts on “Brazil” for a baby girl? No middle name, as Brazil in itself is kinda “out there” and uncommon, I think a middle name would be overkill. I hated it when my boyfriend mentioned it originally, but it’s actually grown on me. I know a ton of London’s, Asia’s, Ireland’s, etc.

Well their presidents name is Trump...

VenusClapTrap · 23/08/2020 10:59

Greer is a fabulous name.

headlock · 23/08/2020 11:36

Poor little girl. It's an awful name and you'd be selfish to call her this. She's the one that'll have to live with it.

SueEllenMishke · 23/08/2020 11:39

Awful.
I wish people would remember they are naming human beings. Not toys or pets.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 23/08/2020 11:43

But OP is creative remember Grin

TheDemonWhoMakesTrophiesOfMan · 23/08/2020 11:51

Are you on crack?

SueEllenMishke · 23/08/2020 11:59

@IncludeWomenInTheSequel

But OP is creative remember Grin
Lol.... well of course they changes everything!

Not great if her child doesn't want to be creative though.

IncludeWomenInTheSequel · 23/08/2020 12:12

It's LA baby! Everyone is in the creative industries!

TryAnotherNickname · 23/08/2020 12:15

Greer is fantastic but for the love of god don’t equate unusual/ outside the box with good / interesting/ creative. Some things stay outside the box for a bloody good reason and naming a baby girl Brazil / Brazil is one of them.
(Adelaide was a name before a place I’m pretty sure)

nasiisthebest · 23/08/2020 13:11

@XGOLDEN

I’d also like to add that I live in Los Angeles, so, weird names run rampant here lol. I’m seeing some great suggestions/ alternatives though! Keep me coming!
In that case Elisabeth might actually be the more unique name then....

On a serious note, I like Saffron, Grey and Roma .

debwong · 23/08/2020 13:21

On the same theme, how about Favela?

debwong · 23/08/2020 13:22

Or go even further south (than a Brazilian) and call your daughter Uruguay.

ivfdreaming · 23/08/2020 13:26

Chavvy and down market

Going to be brutally honest whilst I wouldn't judge a child with that name I'd certainly judge the parent who gave them it

sunyla · 26/08/2020 03:31

I actually like it.
What about Rio?

sunyla · 26/08/2020 03:31

My apologies just saw your response go Rio after responding.

fei0131 · 26/08/2020 03:43

What about Azul for a similar sound? It means "blue" in Spanish and Portuguese.

Tavannach · 26/08/2020 03:51

I like Greer and Saffron.

Sorrel
Vienna
Meriel
Artemis
Athene ("Ath-ee-nay"), or Athena

Brazil gets the thumbs down from me too.

MrsSchadenfreude · 26/08/2020 04:14

Bolivia. Bolly for short. Grin And if she hates it she can call herself Olivia.

Ritascornershop · 26/08/2020 04:21

I don’t like it, aside from that I also hate London, Ireland, and Asia as children’s names, Brazil just doesn’t have a great sound to me.

Today I met a little boy named Jersey and all I could think of was the cows.

Hatscats · 26/08/2020 04:26

Awful.

Greer and Saffron are nice though.
