Which longer version of Max

So I really like the name Max and it’s one of only a few that my husband and I agree on.

However my husband is insistent that he have a ‘full name’ on his birth certificate.

Which longer variation of Max do you prefer? Or do you think Max alone is fine.

I'd never have thought of Magnus, with nn Max, but I definitely think it could work. I absolutely love the name Magnus. It gives him some nice options when he's older. Max or maybe Gus?

If not Magnus, I only like Maxwell.

Maximilian sounds a bit super villain to me and Maxim makes me think of the word maxim.

AntiAuntieAnty · 05/08/2020 20:25

Maximus is too gladiatory for my taste.

FaiIWorseAgain · 05/08/2020 22:11

DOES THE NAME NOT ENTERTAIN YOU ANTI?!!!
Grin Wink

AntiAuntieAnty · 05/08/2020 22:14

Grin exactly! I am not entertained!!!

I suppose it's less of a consideration these days though. Babies born today won't know what Gladiator is! God I feel old.

I think Maximilian personally.

Cherrybakewellll · 06/08/2020 09:34

As a mother of a Max, I've never met a Max who isn't a proper cheeky 'spirited' little character.

daisypond · 06/08/2020 09:44

Maximilian. But Max is fine on its own. I really like Maximilian, though.

Definitely never Maxwell - a very different image.

AntiAuntieAnty · 06/08/2020 09:48
@AntiAuntieAnty we chose Maximilian precisely because he could be a supervillain with it if he wanted! Or a plumber, as Max. Or a cricketer, as MGD Meggido etc. It gave him more options.
😂😂😂😂😂😂

This is, hands down, my favourite reason ever, for someone choosing their DC's name!

VEGAS2016 · 16/08/2020 21:22

My ds is 3 & a Maximilian. It suits him perfectly!

emma911030 · 16/08/2020 23:15

Max is on our short list but I have recently been thinking I wonder how many people will ask what it's short for..
Nothing it's short for nothing his name is max! Lol
I don't like any of the longer versions of it if I'm honest which is what's putting me off a little cause people will piss me off asking 😂

Graymare · 16/08/2020 23:21

Heh1991 · 16/08/2020 23:29

Trying again with a better web link.
This reminds me of the Hugo thread:

@Buttybach

Maxence

There is a very hot French actor called maxence Danet fauvelle

This is the most cunty version of Max I have ever seen. Maxence??? Are you for real? 😂😂
EdgeOfACoin · 05/02/2021 05:35

My colleague's son is Maximilian.

I always quite liked Maxim (thinking of Maxim de Winter from Rebecca), but someone mentioned the 90s Lads Mag. I'm not sure that would put me off, though - does the magazine even still exist? Pretty sure Max's classmates wouldn't make the connection.

I do think Max is a bit nicknamey, although I really like the name. A longer name would give the child more options.

Minnie6078 · 05/02/2021 06:15

Great choice Of name I just have a gorgeous and very chilled little 'Max' I love it although it I was to pick a full version would of been 'Maxwell' x

justanotherneighinparadise · 05/02/2021 06:31

Maximo is the best option IMO.

polkadotpixie · 05/02/2021 06:35

I have a Max, it's not short for anything because we didn't like any of the longer alternatives so he's just Max

Onlinedilema · 05/02/2021 06:57

Is just call him Max. The others all have negative connotations to me.

babynamelover · 05/02/2021 07:28

Maximiliano ☺️

ladymary86 · 05/02/2021 07:41

Maximilian - I have one and yes he generally is called Max but he does sometimes tell people his full name and he loves it.
It's a bit of a mouthful but I genuinely love it or I would never have used it.
