Which longer version of Max

Fisher1008 · 03/08/2020 23:39

So I really like the name Max and it’s one of only a few that my husband and I agree on.

However my husband is insistent that he have a ‘full name’ on his birth certificate.

Which longer variation of Max do you prefer? Or do you think Max alone is fine.

Max on its own is fine, although if either of you were part Italian, Massimo is pretty nice.

tigger1001 · 04/08/2020 13:38

I have a max. It's his full name as we loved the name but didn't like any of the longer versions. He is a teenager now and I've never been asked what it's short for.

Cherrybakewellll · 04/08/2020 13:43

Both my sons, one of which is Max, have the short version of their names on the birth certificate.

People always say 'is that Maxwell or Maximilian?' To which I reply 'Max'.

MikeUniformMike · 04/08/2020 21:01

Maqsud

DCIRozHuntley · 04/08/2020 21:05

Max is fine on its own I think, if you've not got a burning desire to use a longer version.

FaiIWorseAgain · 04/08/2020 21:24

Maxim if you have to do a longer version

VenusClapTrap · 04/08/2020 23:31

Maxim at a push, but I think Max is fine on its own.

june2007 · 04/08/2020 23:34

Thaks a million maxamillion. So thats a no.
Like Maxwell and maxim and maximus. Max on it,s own does tend to get legthened in my experience of working with Max,s.

DanniArthur · 04/08/2020 23:37

Another vote for either Maxwell or Maximus

Carriecotz · 04/08/2020 23:44

I prefer Max on its own. My friend has a son called Max and it’s not short for anything.
Maxwell always reminds me of the coffee and Maximillian is a bit ‘toff’.

Chocolatedeficitdisorder · 05/08/2020 00:06

I have a Ben, short for nothing. Max is just as good at standing alone.

MyNameHasBeenTaken · 05/08/2020 00:32

Macsen.
If I ever have another ds, he will be macsen.
I know 3 boys named max. All are just max. Nothing longer.

DorthyTyler · 05/08/2020 02:50

Maximillian

CherryMaple · 05/08/2020 06:48

I would just go for Max.

My name on my birth certificate is a shortened version of a long classic name. It works fine.

Motherofmonsters · 05/08/2020 07:02

DS is just a Max, only ever been asked if it was short for anything when he was born

labyrinthloafer · 05/08/2020 07:05

I find Maximilian a bit embarrassing, sorry to those of the opposite view!

So Maxwell is ok.

cliffdiver · 05/08/2020 08:04

Maximo.

FourPlasticRings · 05/08/2020 09:21

@labyrinthloafer I wouldn't say it's embarrassing, but I don't like the Maxi in it. Makes me think of san pro.

Iwalkinmyclothing · 05/08/2020 09:31

Why embarrassing?
Bloomburger · 05/08/2020 09:36

We have a Maximilian who is 15, he goes by Max but when people, especially people his age, find out what his real name is they think it's incredibly cool.

I still can't think of Maxwell without thinking of coffee and men in high neck knitted sweaters.

FourPlasticRings · 05/08/2020 09:38

Fair point. I don't get the knitted sweaters reference, but the coffee thing would put me off.

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 05/08/2020 09:42

I have a Max - he's 18 now and hasn't suffered for lack of a longer version of his name. Honestly, he won't need it. I think parents should pick the name they actually want to call their baby and not feel like they have to choose a longer version.

VoyageInTheDark · 05/08/2020 09:44

Just use Max. I don't get the obsession with having a longer name just to sit unused on a birth certificate

MrsHuntGeneNotJeremyObviously · 05/08/2020 09:45

Also why would anyone call a child Magnus and then call him Max? They are completely different names!

babyguffingtonstrikesagain · 05/08/2020 09:47

I like Maximus the most
