Thoughts on Delta

I am not expecting but a huge fan of baby names and frankly during this quarantine is really a good way to pass time.

I really like the name Delta and it actually holds some meaning to me personally and just wanted to hear what you think of it and these middle name combos. I'd like a normal/common middle to be used as a backup

Delta Caroline
Delta Olivia
Delta Alexandra

Thoughts on it or any other middle names you feel would be a good match? Also I don't live in the US so Delta Airlines is not a big thing here Smile

Same here Grin

tenlittlecygnets · 30/04/2020 22:43

River delta plus the airline spring to mind ... plus it's not a very pretty name, imo. Sounds like debit.

overweightcat · 30/04/2020 22:45

Wasn't there a Velociraptor named Delta in the new Jurrasic World films ?

Mucklowe · 30/04/2020 22:50

It's a euphemism for lady parts. "Delta of Venus". Confused

ErrolTheDragon · 30/04/2020 22:54

Well, that'd help differentiate the poor kid from the others....

I thought Greek letter and maths before airline and rivers. And it being below alpha and beta ... third rate.

ErrolTheDragon · 30/04/2020 22:55

Jesus H Christ.

As an alternative to Delta? It's too derivative.

EmmaGrundyForPM · 30/04/2020 22:58

Airline.
sorry

Tavannach · 30/04/2020 23:49

Geographic or alphabetic to me.

I like Caroline, nn Caro.

PippaPegg · 01/05/2020 01:51

The drag queen Delta Work

You could use the Greek character instead of the English word Grin

In maths it's quite a fun meaning!

PippaPegg · 01/05/2020 01:55

I like it actually!

For an unusual name, everyone will know how to pronounce it.

Reginabambina · 01/05/2020 01:58

The first thought for me was Delta So-Goodrem.

I'd think mississippi delta, but I do know a 2 year old delta and I guess it's ok.

thequeenbeyondthewall · 01/05/2020 10:28

Della. Someone said that up thread that is gorge.

I think that will make a comeback it's a beautiful name.

nitgel · 01/05/2020 10:32

delta blues

lockdownlowdown · 01/05/2020 10:57

I prefer Della

isolatedcaramel · 01/05/2020 15:54

Sorry I can't really answer to comments personally as I'm on my phone and it's quite difficult to tag everyone's usernames but thank you for the comments, definitely something to consider.

As for people commenting on the name Della which I saw a lot, my cousin named her daughter Ella and we are a very small family so I think they are definitely way too close as far as sound goes.

Umnoway · 01/05/2020 17:48

It’s an American airline isn’t it.

BackforGood · 01/05/2020 22:31

@isolatedcaramel Are you also the OP ?

It's very confusing if you name change part way through a thread.

rempy · 01/05/2020 22:36

I'm UK and immediately thought Delta force, the US SAS equivalent. And the I thought about rivers. Lots of nasty jokes in there about rivers spreading wide across the plain...

Rubywhox · 01/05/2020 23:14

It’s a pretty sounding word but as a name would have too many other meanings

Pixielou16 · 03/05/2020 09:00

I thought of Delta Goodrem. I used to play her album all the time as a tween Grin I like it, it's different. I believe Kristen Bell's daughter is called Delta too.

YouJustDoYou · 03/05/2020 09:03

Makes me think of Delta airlines.

bluebluezoo · 03/05/2020 09:10

I know plenty of girls named Alexa for example, which is very linked to the amazon device but it doesn't seem to be an issue

But Alexa was a girls name long before the amazon device. The device was given a girls name, rather than girls being given the same name as the device iyswim.

Delta is a word not generally used as a name.

YetiAnotherNameChange · 03/05/2020 10:08

Airline. I'm in the UK, and have flown on them a few times to the states.

Pinkarsedfly · 03/05/2020 10:11

You’re myyyy, yes your myyyyyy delta laaaydeeee
