Thoughts on the name Rupert? My husband loves it.

I love it too. Both Rupert and Rufus are among my favourite names.

Flymetothestars · 31/03/2020 13:22

Great choice

BeingATwatItsABingThing · 31/03/2020 13:23

Hate it but I’m really not a fan of old-fashioned names.

NuffSaidSam · 31/03/2020 13:24

I really don't like it.

I think partly because Rupert bear was such a dick!

DramaAlpaca · 31/03/2020 13:24

No, not for me.

ErrolTheDragon · 31/03/2020 13:46

Rupert the Bear in his checked trousers... not keen

Whatsyourflava · 31/03/2020 13:50

Love it! Nearly used it and regret that I didn’t

HelenaJustina · 31/03/2020 13:53

Love it, know a fab adult one.

GetTheSprinkles · 31/03/2020 13:58

Very cute

EL1984 · 31/03/2020 14:00

Love it!!

SpratsOnParade · 31/03/2020 15:09

Hate it. It's so wet.

Sertchgi123 · 31/03/2020 15:10

I love it, go for it.

Whoareyoudududu · 31/03/2020 15:15

It’s the only boys name we agree on so if our baby is a boy he will be Rupert. Lovely name.

EasyTarget · 31/03/2020 15:15

Love it. Ru is a lovely nickname.

Lucylivesinamushroomhouse · 31/03/2020 15:20

We’ve got a Rupert! So obviously I love it. Had mixed reactions when it was announced. People tend to love it or hate it. One friend thought we were joking! He gets called Rupes, Rupey, Ro Ro and Tiny (he’s only 5 months).

ReturnofSaturn · 31/03/2020 15:22

The bear. Nope I hate it, sorry!

LotusClover · 31/03/2020 15:27

Old fashioned and not particularly nice in my opinion. But if you like it go for it.

It’s a really cool name and fairly mainstream now. No one will raise an eyebrow these days (although older generations might, theyll soon get used to it). Love it

robin04031402 · 31/03/2020 15:55

Lovely name - Rou for a nn?
However, my first thought was Rupert Bear!

bigknickersbigknockers · 31/03/2020 15:57

Rupert is such a drippy name, Rufus..,. now you're talking.

VenusClapTrap · 31/03/2020 16:34

Really naff.

Aber9 · 31/03/2020 16:50

Love it

usernameusernames · 31/03/2020 18:07

Thanks for your replies - some mixed opinions but I appreciate everyone's views.

Does anyone know it's popularity at the moment? I can't seem to ever find the UK name stats that are more recent than 2018?

I like it. I know a 10 year old, who mostly goes by Roo.
