Hey guys
I'm 30 weeks pregnant and would love some help choosing a name for my little boy. I want something normal that suits a child but also not too common.

So far I like:

Jake Moran
Charlie Moran
Keelan Moran

Any ideas pleeeeeeaseeeee?

Among my dc I have a Jake and a Cyrus..

Chlandy · 29/03/2020 21:52

I'm having a girl this time, but our boys name which I love so much and very sad I don't get to use is Wilfred, but would use 'Wilf' :) I realise it's not everyone's cup of tea though!

Skeeter2020 · 29/03/2020 21:54

Keelan is really tacky.

Charlie is lovely

LittleBeauPeep · 29/03/2020 21:54

Charlie was the 10th most popular name in England and Wales last year so that's pretty common imo. How about

Jake or Charlie. Not Keelan.

Babymomalove · 29/03/2020 22:05

Thanks everyone
Can I ask why nobody likes Keelan?
I did like it a couple of weeks ago but the more I said it aloud the less I liked it.

I would pick Jake but I have a 2nd cousin Jake I suppose I don't know him that well but my mam would be in contact with his granny a lot (my aunty who I also don't really see)
Is it weird to choose the same name. This kid is around 6 years old now

What about Kieran? It's really not common nowadays, but is a completely normal name.
Rudy is nice, and not very common.

I like Keelan. If everyone had the same taste the world would be a very boring place and we'd all be called Jack or Olivia

AJTracey · 29/03/2020 22:13

Charlie and Jake are very common imho i know several of all ages. Never heard Keelan before. Sounds like someone from Westlife

I like Keelan. If I had another I would chose that name. Not common, but sounds familiar.

Not Keelan. It isn't even a name. Please don't

My taste in names and yours might not coincide (mine include Valentine and Horatio for boys), but a real name is always a good idea.

I think that if you like Jake, that's at least a real name and the family connection isn't close enough to be a nuisance.

I'm not sure what kinds of names you might like otherwise.

Iwasbornonchristmaseve · 29/03/2020 22:28

Your ‘second cousin Jake’ is actually your first cousin once removed...sorry had to say it, it’s my pet peeve Grin
I like Jake but I think it’s quite popular although not as popular as Charlie (which I don’t like!)
Keelan sounds quite...downmarket. Keelan would have siblings called Darcie-Mae, Nevaeh-Rae and Jaxxon-Kai
Go for Jake!

Anoisagusaris · 29/03/2020 22:30

Keelan is an Irish/Gaelic name. Nothing trashy or tacky about it in Ireland. Definitely not the type of name described up thread!

Anoisagusaris · 29/03/2020 22:31

Laughing at Keelan not being a name....shows the ignorance of posters!
