Hey guys
I'm 30 weeks pregnant and would love some help choosing a name for my little boy. I want something normal that suits a child but also not too common.

So far I like:

Jake Moran
Charlie Moran
Keelan Moran

Any ideas pleeeeeeaseeeee?

If you want normal but not common, why not go for a name that used to be common, but isn't now. John, Paul, Peter, Alan, Steven, Gary. Just think of all the men you know between 50 and 70. FYI I like John, Peter and Steven and don't know any children with those names (I work in 7 different primary schools).

Keir
Keaton
Cormac
Fraser
Jonathan (nn Jonty)
Jackson

More common, but Max Moran sounds really cool.

Not even in the top 100

I quite like Keelan, it's the name of the security guard in my local tesco and he's, tall, dark, handsome with the most amazing afro.

Lawrence (lawrie)
Dominic
Lucas
Robert (robbie/bobby)
Michael (micky)
Jonathan
David

LuluJakey1 · 30/03/2020 10:29

Keelan is so trashy! It is a made-up name that fits with Jaaxon, Daxxon, or anything with 'ayden' or 'aiden' at the end like Jayden, Kayden, Kaiden, Hayden.

Whatsyourflava · 30/03/2020 11:25

These are the names I like, I think Barnaby, Sidney (Sid), Miles or Nathan (Nate) in particular would really fit your brief

Christopher nn Kit
Wilf(red) nn Wilf
Barnaby nn Barns or Barney
Nathan/Nathaniel - Nate
Rafferty nn Raffy
Sidney Nn Sid

Other ideas:

Eli
Ellis
Miles / Milo

Casper
Rudy/Rudi
Dexter

I like Kieran/Kieron and Sean but as I'm not Irish felt a bit silly going for them.

Rainbowqueeen · 30/03/2020 11:37

What about Keegan??

ADreamOfGood · 30/03/2020 11:57

Wow- don't hold back there @LuluJakey1!

Everyone has different tastes to one another. It's not as though she wants to name one Jaxxon and one Peregrine, is it? Grin

ADreamOfGood · 30/03/2020 11:59

Just seen someone suggest Cormac. That's a lovely name. Sounds like a really friendly person (but check the meaning, as I've no idea on Irish names).

@ArthuriaAugustaDarcy

The Valentine I know would be about that age now too funnily enough.

TeetotalKoala · 30/03/2020 13:57

Maybe closer to 15/16 based on my very rough maths and memory.

BeKindItCostsNothing · 30/03/2020 13:59

There's no K in Gaelic

MindyStClaire · 30/03/2020 17:20

Keelan is so trashy! It is a made-up name

I'm not a fan of anglicised spellings of Irish names, but the name isn't made-up.

courtwood · 30/03/2020 23:09

Other Irish names to easy to pronounce:
Lorcan
Declan
Cian
Killian
Senan
Liam

Mumtobe193 · 31/03/2020 02:01

Sonny
Albie
Gabriel
Ted
Sebastian

AlliKaneSon · 31/03/2020 03:05

My son has four Charlies in his class, so I wouldn’t say it was uncommon.

Rachelhaydenberk1 · 31/03/2020 03:36

I like Keelan - it's an Irish name that means slender.

I also like Keenan.

I'll also suggest:
Jaden
Peyton
Tatum
Logan
Dawson
Cullen

CuppaZa · 31/03/2020 04:12

I love Jake
Also love Oscar, Caleb, Lucas and Frederick

Pumpkinbell · 31/03/2020 04:37
